Description
I think the PLD trade will slightly hurt the return ANA gets. You know GMs and ppl in charge of decision making have a similar opinions of zegras as they do PLD and how that trade has turned out is looking terrible for LA. We also know ANA is not going to trade him for nothing so I think a return that is alittle less than PLD and remember vilardi took off after the trade not before.

Yikes. Take out Zegras and maybe they think about it? Anderson is not a piece that want.

This isn't close. I posted a Zegras trade that was two 1st, Beck and one of Xhejak or Mallioux - been told it's not what Anaheim would be looking for.

Most on this site seem to think it would take Reinbacher or equivalent. Which is a deal the Habs management wouldn't touch

laugh Josh Anderson is basically a 30 point winger making $5,500,000 x 3.25 years. There's no freaking way Pat Verbeek wants that cancerous contract.

But PLD explicitly wanted out of Winnipeg, and also said he would only sign in a couple places. Anaheim has no reason to move on from Zegras unless they are blown away by an offer (which this does not do).

Not even close, would probably make Mesar or the first just to offload Andy. Hughes missed his opportunity to trade him and get anything of value back. I would think the package starts with the Winnipeg AND Calgary picks along with maybe Xhekaj and Farrell. Z is only 22 and coming off back to back 60+ point seasons he’s not gonna be cheap.

IF they were considering trading Zegras at all, which I firmly believe that they're not since his trade value is at its lowest point, the Ducks would be looking for quality in one or two assets for him, as @Subbanator7667 accurately implies above. (Substituting Reinbacher or Montreal's own 2024 first for the two firsts in his offer would be an acceptable formulation.) Harris is redundant in light of Anaheim's strength and depth at LhD and Josh Anderson is a minus, not a plus.

By the way, your statement that Vilardi took off after the trade to Winnipeg is demonstrably false. He had a career total of 37 points over his first three seasons (totaling 89 games) with Los Angeles and 41 points in 63 games playing third-line minutes his last year with the Kings.

PLD was traded twice, once for Laine (another high potential forward that needed a change) and the other trade netted WPG Vilardi which would be similar to Dach from MTL.

There is nothing high end in this package going to Anaheim. Would you accept Anderson, Mesar, a late 1st, and Harris for Caufield?

Amen to this. Their almost identical career PPG (0.73 for Zegras, 0.728 for Caufield) and plus-minus, among other defensive stats (-44 for Zegras in 200 games, -41 for Caufield in 28 fewer games) make them a highly convincing comparable. And Caufield is approaching his first 60-point season whereas Zegras already has two of them in the books.

As a result of your honesty as a Habs fan, I'm putting you on my short list (VERY short list) of people to automatically give great weight when expressing an opinion.

Except PLD explicitly wanted out of WPG and neither Z, the coaching staff, nor any fans want Z gone. On top of that Z is a young offensive forward, and ANA has a need for.. young offensive forwards right now. If you want Z, you have to convince ANA to sell with what you’re offering, not the other way around

Imo MTL can buy Z with one of 3 packages, give or take small assets going 1 way or the other:
1. Rein
2. Slaf
3. ‘24 MTL 1st + Beck tier prospect (only on draft day if Verbeek loves someone available at MTL’s pick, my guess being Levshunov/Lindstrom)

If that’s too much? Nooo problem. We’re stoked on keeping Z in ANA
