Josh Anderson and beefing this team

1.
TOR
  1. Anderson, Josh (2 750 000 $ retained)
Détails additionnels:
Habs fans seem to be fine getting a 3rd-4th rounder for Anderson at 50%. At 5.5 x 4, it would probably take a 1st ++ to dump. They save 11 million over next 4 years and open up a roster spot. I'd deal him at 50% before your stuck at 5.5 with no-one willing to take him for even a 3rd
MTL
  1. Choix de 4e ronde en 2024 (TOR)
  2. Choix de 4e ronde en 2026 (TOR)
Détails additionnels:
His speed has declined, which doesn't make him nearly as effective as say 2 years ago. Still a solid B6 player who can lay massive hits and provide *some* offence to the game.
2.
TOR
  1. Tanev, Brandon (1 750 000 $ retained)
Détails additionnels:
Another tough as nails forward who can PK and play with Kampf
SEA
  1. Abruzzese, Nick
  2. Choix de 3e ronde en 2024 (NYI)
Détails additionnels:
Opens roster spot and adds a young prospect, plus a pick

Not sure what Habs fan said they would accept an Anderson 50% for couple 4th but I can guarantee, they would rather keep him if that's the best offer. I would rather buy him out frankly than do this.

Yeah, just an idea. I think buying him out is probably more sensible (costs 1.72, a million less but for three extra seasons). Could consider this to save 1.72 for the last three years and get a few picks back

Hughes really fumbled not dealing him a year ago when they could've landed a 1st for him..

I don't think that's getting you Brandon Tanev either.

Not only is he a better player than you give him credit for on that trade, he's a fan favorite everywhere he goes.

laugh Kent Hughes isn't retaining $2,750,000 x 3 on Josh Anderson for two lousy 4th round picks. Talk about being totally delusional.

And it's a NHL ready prospect and a 2nd for Tanev with no retention. You want retention then add a 1st round pick.

Trading him to a bitter rival with 50% retention for 3 more years for a couple 4ths is worse than simply having dead cap for longer IMO. The alternative is just keep him, which I think Habs are perfectly fine with. There's always the chance he gets hot and a team comes calling.

Assuming the rumors were true, than yeah I think they messed up big time too but I remind people to remember that the details of the trade were never mentioned. Chances are it required the Habs to eat 50% of his salary also but just for a better return. Which at least would have made the offer palatable.

Habs will keep Anderson. He can probably bounce back and net us that return unretained

I don't see either side making that Anderson trade as he's just a young, more timid, but better overall player than Reaves...

And Hughes isn't eating 50% of Anderson's contract for 2 4rths

But Josh Anderson only scores against the Leafs.

Is he being brought in to dominate practice? 🙄
