Quoting: gretzkyghosts
Here is a counter offer
Savoie, Kulich, Ostlund, Strbek for Jenner and Jiricek.
Three NHL ready forwards and a RHD.
The sticking point is we still need a 1RD, and Strbek doesn't really project to be that as far as I know, and certainly isn't NHL ready. Unless we're getting a Jiricek-type back, it just doesn't make sense. He's under team control for years, under contract for 2 more, and his point of contention is literally just playing time. Management is out the door, he ends up an NHL regular by the end of the year, and this time next season we've probably forgotten he was even unhappy. No reason to trade that guy when he fills such a huge need.
I like Kulich, Ostlund, and Savoie, don't get me wrong, but unless they play D, it's not going to help long-term. Teams don't trade young, cost-controlled, U21 1RD. We're not going to be able to package them for a different one, and we can only play 12 forwards a night. That offer does nothing other than blast a gaping hole in our defense long-term, and create a new logjam of teenagers down the middle.
