With a pretty meh .901 SV%, is Allen really an improvement over Rittich 0.924 SV% and Talbot 0.911 SV%?

I don't see it making sense from a cap perspective as well as not being a good fit.

Is it just my imagination, or is David Rittich 5-1-3 with a .925 save percentage and a 2.09 GAA at less than 1/4 of Jake Allen's cap hit?

I swear people in the community are convinced to the core that Monahan is a better hockey player than Lindholm.
I'll say I think there'll be more suitors for him because of the low cap hit therefore more teams can trade for him but as far as hockey goes the points comparison doesn't make sense between these two.

I mean he ain't playing behind the same defense either... As of right now LA defense's miles ahead of Montreal's so the comparison is skewed.

Nha we are saying that the market will go gazoo because there is not much piece this season and it's a seller market.

Alright if using SV% is an unfair metric for judging a goaltender. Let's just look at Montreal's goaltending.

He's currently being outplayed by Montembeault, who has had more starts, tougher assignments, less GAA, seen more shots against, and has a better SV%. at about a 1/4th of the price. So basically Allen is playing just about as well as Primeu at 4 times the price. If you have truly watched him play this season, you know you are selling fools gold.

Of course the comparison is skewed, but the point is why should the Kings give away Rittich (because he isn't waivers-exempt) in order to hope that Allen will be an improvement? Especially at the cost of a very effective bottom-6 center on a team-friendly RFA contract?

Not to mention the Kings would not have the cap space to facilitate this trade with Arvidsson now on the ice again.

I’m concerned you will dismiss my opinion because I’m a Canes fan and don’t know what I’m taking about…

I’d like to understand why this is a ‘sellers market’ and why you think the market is going to go ‘gazoo’. Why do you think this?

Lindholm’s return was huge but it’s not going to be indicative of the rest of the deals coming. This silly Monahan thing has morphed from him ‘maybe’ getting a first to him reeling in a 1st plus. It’s like overnight Monahan’s ceiling and floor were turned upside down.

To be fair it's fairly likely we're in a "seller's" year considering 18 teams have a better than 35% odds of making the playoffs, add NJ, MIN and Arizona that doesn't have much to sell you're left with about 10 teams willing to sell some or all assets. 18/19 potential buyers, 3/4 out of the market teams, 10 potential, we're in a sellers market.
At the end of the day that's what the NHL is looking for, more teams still in the mix by TDL means more fans are still steadily watching games so it explains the more often than not seller market we find ourselves in.

Trades like this one will never happen doe, no chance.

Yeah, if we were lucky enough that the Rags included Perrault we would have to add at least a 2nd more likely a 1st

Economics tends to be irrational so is NHL market value if the best piece goes 5 weeks prior to the TDL the market will go coo-coo gazoo. We are not saying that his value is a 1st + but proposing that a bidding war will ensue and therefore we are asking for a late first +.

When I come here to do AGM I'm playing the market game while the others tend to refer to rumors or expert words. I was saying the same thing for Lehkonen and Chiarot. The market and GM are crazy goers, but you need that if you wish to have the right gamble.

Who are now the front pieces : Henrique at 5,825, Monahan at 1,985, Morgan Frost may join that list but would be a dangle for Flyers to do so, and Zegras is closer to be a summer deal than a TDL one. Other centers are 4th liners. The market is a seller one because there are not many pieces and the fact that the standing is pretty close between teams will make it harder for any big movement. Since the dominos are already falling we can say this is a seller market.
