Habs trade is fair value. Now, it only depends on the other 7 teams to up that offer. We will only know what Monahan will get when he gets traded. Maybe more, maybe less…

Monahan is a poor fit for Winnipeg. He's not good enough offensively for the top 6 and not good enough defensively for the bottom six. No interest.

Playoff teams add depth not give it away for nothing. No to the Chicago trade.

Chicago has Korchinshi, Vlasic, and Phillips (all younger than Stanley) already on the left side with Kaiser and Del Mastro waiting in the wings. They also have vets Tinordi and Megna on the roster. There's no room for Stanley.

Hawks are the wrong fit. They have Vlasic and Korchinksi locking up the top 2 spots on the left and options of Kasier, Del Mastro, Allan, and Philips at the 3rd spot....all of which are likely good enough to be in the NHL.

If Winnipeg is serious about contending, this is a pretty logical trade for them.

The only way I'd give a 1st for Monahan is if it had heavy conditions on it like the Jets winning the cup or getting to the conference finals and Monahan playing a certain amount of games and getting a certain amount of points, if thats too much thats fine, can trade him elsewhere.

I think Winnipeg might be leaning towards Lindholm more than Monahan.

Monahan does absolutely nothing for WPG
- he’s not a top 6C and we already have better bottom 6Cs
- he’s not worth a 1st
- he’s lousy defensively and is only good for faceoffs

Stanley is good D depth for the playoff run… zero reason to move him before the offseason

Monahan does nothing to increase our ability to contend…in actual fact he reduces it by taking cap space away from a player we could actually use that might actually help…not to mention the ‘25 2nd it would take to acquire him that we could use in a package for a proper top 6 C.
Monahan is a lousy fit for Winnipeg and he isn’t worth a 1st round pick.

I wouldn’t pay a conditional 2nd for him… I wouldn’t pay anything for him. He’s not a fit for WPG at all.
Any team that pays anything more than a straight mid 2nd for him is wasting their assets… because that’s all he’s worth… mid 2nd, no conditions
