That’s gonna be a well-traveled pick after being part of Cutter and Marner deals.

Am I missing something about Marner? Why do TML fans want him gone so badly? On pace for like 40 goals/100 points this year and is Selke-caliber defensively responsible? Is it just the contract stuff?

Pipe dream. Regardless of what you may think of Mitch, trade him or not, he holds all the cards. I personally think the Leafs are a better team with him than without (salary aside).

He's going to go to the end of his contract and negotiate. If he thinks he's worth more than 11.5, let him walk.

It’s more how soft he is. He’s an elite player, but he’s a perimetre guy. Treliving likes hard nosed working guys that have some bite to their game and work in the trenches. Marner isn’t that.

I suspect he’ll be asked to waive his NMC in the summer after a disappointing playoff again (if they make it, I don’t think they make playoffs this year). & I’d guess there’d be 5 teams or so that he’d waive for. It’s not hard to get guys to waive a NMC despite what many people on here seem to think

Considering Marner is going to want at least the Nylander contract and TK is probably not going to sniff above 8.5M-9M (barring something crazy), I don't think the Flyers make sense to trade when they are still in a rebuilding mindset. That ANA pick is probably going to be in the top-40 next year so that is a decent future to keep for PHI.

The worse part of the post is thinking LIndholm is going to be of value with a seven year contract

Well you know so many Leaf fans, they hate their own. Don't like many of their players but just love middling Dmen from non playoff teams. (not necessarily this post)
Admitting there is something to be said about a trading a player with a high cap and getting enough cap flexibility for two good players

He is definitely worth more than Willie. Willie is back to his old floater, no backchecking attitude. He has 2 goals in 7games and they were both trash that 95% of the goalies in the league would have stopped. Willie the great goal scorer has 3 more goals than Marner. He has played 14 more career NHL games and has 12 more goals. Giving him 11.5M for 37games of career hockey was just foolishness. That contract is going to be the Achilles heel for a longtime.

If your going to be foolish enough to trade Marner, at least get market value. Your short a first round pick, top prospect and another roster player.

If he only went in the corners like Willie does. Willie is a way more perimeter player than Marner.

Nylander actually has some physical play to his game when he wants to, he just lacks motivation to do it consistently. But Willy can actually fight off a check and use his body to drive the net, Marner can’t.

Neither guy hits with any force. Willlie best season in hits is 25, not more than 5 any players would remember. Marner best year in hits is 75 same result on damage as Willie. So that suggestion has no validation.

Being physical isn’t just about hits. It’s how you use your body in the game. Nylander is very good at protecting the puck with his body and reverse hits . So what has no validation seems like your knowledge of hockey

LOL, Nylander never puts himself in a position for a reverse hit. He is good at protecting the puck when he skating around the perimeter for sure. He is a opportunist and very good at it. He doesn't have a physical bone in his body and avoids contact at all cost, even if it mean losing the game. Obviously your knowledge of the game is limited to the highlight reel.
