Maybe some other team, but the Caps GM said he would only move his 1st and best prospects for a young player

Anderson = instant no deal

No significant asset coming back also means no Zegras, we aren’t looking to move him anyways since Pat just traded for a linemate for him for the future

If Zegras was available for a grab bag of lesser assets, he would have been moved by now, and that's like the 20th time I've seen that exact trade on here, no, that doesn't get it done, no matter what the media says is fair value.

MTL would need to move their 2024 1st for Zegras or Slaf (and they aren't going to move him) at a minimum, maybe including Newhook or Dach as well will get close. And yes, the 2024 first currently sitting #8 is well worth it for Zegras.

Non significant asset, what are you smoking. Joshua Roy is a legitimate top prospect. If would be a top 15 pick if they would redo the draft today. Is ceiling is as high as he will define it. Is hockey IQ is Elite, he have a great shot. No the faster skater but is positioning make him a constant menace. He also added a nice defensive consciousness in the past couple year. So alone Habs wouldn’t trade Joshua Roy for Zegras. Jesus Christ , he was the best forward beside Connor Bedard in world Junior, he was on top of the CHL for 2 season with elite offensive production and a ridiculous goal differential. +43 and a wooping +69 last year. So keep your their no signifcant asset since Joshua Roy would instantly become your best forward prospect.

What are you smoking Habs have no intention of trading any of these players. And Zegras doesn’t hold that kind of value. Jesus Christ even Jack Eichel didn’t land that kind of return. Zegras is a exciting players but he is not a elite players.

Zegras was a #9 overall pick, trading the #8 overall pick alone does not get Zegras as the risk that the #8 overall turns into nothing is too great. Therefore, MTL would have to add to that and Newhook and Dach aren't exactly top tier players either, and in fact both have been a disappointment from their draft positions.

Dach was Mtl best players in training camp and by far. Your Gm will look stupid for a long period of time since Dach will be a top players in that league. Just need to stay healthy. Newhook was on pace for 20 + goals and and 50 points before getting hurts. There nothing of dissapointement here. Those are 22 years old players who doesnt even have played 200 games yet. People will be disappointed a lot if Zegras get trade because the return won’t be near what you expect it would. The best scenario for the ducks would be that 8th overall pick so they could draft one guy’s high on their list. Zegras is a highlight machine but he isn’t a good hockey players. He doesn’t play the game the right way. He got Max Domi writing all over him. He better put is **** back together because he got a bad reputation that is starting to circulate and that never a good thing

That makes since. I think the Caps would be a great fit but if the GM said he wasn't going to move his first for a player like that it obviously won't happen. I also think he would be great on my Penguins but we just don't have the capital for that unless we want to move the 2025 1st and that is concerning because if we keep moving away first rounders we'll be by far the worst team in NHL in no time. I do think Monahan will go to a team in the wild card race like the Capitals, Penguins, or maybe even the Islanders. The main point of the move in this situation was to get the Monahan for a 2024 1st trade done which is the most likely return. I would probably change it to the Islanders if I was to redo this one now.

Dach has a history of not staying healthy...this is the 3rd major setback for him, he's incredibly fragile for his size watching him not being able to take hits or give good hits without limping off the ice, and his work ethic hasn't been the best which is why he was traded. Dach has 5 seasons in the NHL and 4 has experienced big injuries and has never shown he's going to be a ppg player. At this point if he can stay healthy and that's a big IF, he's looking like he will become 55 to 65 point center which is okay but that doesn't live up to his draft position nor is it 1st line center material in the league today. I was saying when he was still in Chicago that Dach will be either a very good 3C or a average or slightly below average 2C....nothing he has done 2 years later has changed that and training camp doesn't mean crap...he had fans spun up in Chicago during his training camps as well but that's just camp not real NHL games.

Regarding the trade, that netted us Frank Nazar and Gavin Hayes in return. Nazar has 27 points in 22 games in the NCAAA, and Hayes 81points in 66 games last year and 38 points in 28 games this year in the OHL; until we know what these guys will bring in the pros, it's way way too early to call this a bad trade for Chicago, but 2 seasons later and the Habs have gotten 60 games from Dach and 40 points....I'm okay with that trade thus far as are most Chicago fans who watched Dach for 3 seasons.

I agree with your opinion on Zegras and note that in my description in an AGM I did after commenting here. He's flashy, not the best attitude or good for the lockerroom, and game is one dimensional.

Ducks need to 6 wing and #1RD. Harris has no utility for ANA, Anderson is hugely negative, and a ‘25 CGY 1st is not helpful for like 3 years.

Think Slaf, Reinbacher, or Roy + ‘24 MTL 1st. If that isn’t worth it to MTL I totally get it, it just means he stays in ANA, and you won’t find any ANA fans bummed about that. We love him here

Look at how Talbot and Rittich are doing and explain why they should waive one of them for Allen who costs double what their cap is combined. Allen to LA makes little sense, he’s the Habs 3rd goalie with the biggest cap hit of the three on a team that isn’t playoff bound.

I think you might have misunderstood. It was:
1. A Slafkovsky return (blue chip piece), even it out with whatever secondary stuff
2. A Reinbacher return (blue chip piece), even it out with whatever secondary stuff
3. Roy (solid B/B+ level prospect) with a ~10th overall pick

Imagining that RIGHT NOW, the kid who has played all of 5 games in the NHL has Connor Bedard potential and is worth more than Trevor Zegras, Mason McTavish or Leo Carlsson indicates that you not only have no idea what you're talking about, there's a good chance that you'll NEVER know what you're talking about. At least, as it pertains to hockey.

Kent Hughes would push a peanut with his nose on his hands and knees from St Catherine Street to Disneyland if Anaheim would trade Zegras for Josh Roy and your 2025 first.

Habs fans over-inflating their prospects tires, it's a tale as old as time. Roy is a middle six guy at the NHL level. You really need to stop acting like you've already won the 2030 Stanley cup.

Go find me a columnist that has redrafted the 2021 draft with Roy in the top 15 that doesn't write for a Habs centric organization or is otherwise a habs homer themselves.
