Rangers Draft Day
why would the rangers do that? theyre trying to win now and trading laf for the 6OA(ish) takes away a top6 winger and adds a player who won't play in the NHL for atleast 2 years

Why wouldn't you keep Lyon in net? He's been pretty good this year, I'd rather him over Driedger and it saves them 600k

offseason
OTT likely has to add to get Ullmark. Boucher has lost the little value he had left and the 24ish pick + 2 3rds isn't enough. I could definitely see them being interested in Norris thogh

Keep the Youth Movement Going
DeBrusk is a mistake imo. Pens don't need a 4th middle 6 winger, they should pay the price for a young reclamation project and give them that icetime. Players like Kaliyev, Robertson, Krebs etc. someone with the talent and skill, but no opportunity.

Would we get a 1st plus for Liljegren and Robertson RFA rights
definitely not a 1st + and likely not a 1st at all for the 2 of them. Robertson will be 23 next season and Liljegren is 25 in 4 weeks. i'd be open to a 2nd+ maybe 2 2nds at the very most, but Liljegren at his age and considering how little he's accomplished is not the most enticing.
Robertson definitely has upside and could probably get TOR their 2nd rounder back, but Liljegren is more of a bottom 4 dman than a top4 dman imo

Leonard joins after BC wins it all
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NoVaSpartan</b></div><div>If Leonard does come over from BC at the end of the year, I think it's more likely Miro ends up on the 4th line (or out of the lineup completely) since I think they'll need the experience of Pacioretty on the line with Leonard. I'd say NAK probably ends up on the 4th line since his style of play fits better than Miro there and they let Miro play in the AHL until an injury happens. Would suck for Miro but I see him as the odd man out (which is fine, let him get as much playing time wherever he can and have him up full time next year).</div></div>
after the way miroshnichenko played last night and what carbs has said about him i don't see him falling out of the top6 anytime soon the guy has been so damn good lately and carbs said he's earned the minutes. it'll likely be protas or wilson who gets bumped down to the 4th line as he's played there quite frequently, but id rather it be patches considering how little he contributes to the office. either way tho too much depth is never a problem

Caps for sure accept, and they do have a lot of Cap space lol theyve got nearly 20m this summer. Toronto would be stupid to trade away Marner though IMO. Matthews plays F3 in the O-zone usually and without his set up man I doubt he scores 60+ goals

I'm not sure I'd trade a 1st for him at all... COL needs to cap space and teams know that. Eventhough he's good you won't get full value for him.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Windjammer</b></div><div>Earlier in the year he was a fixture in the top 6. Now after a wrist injury they're playing him less because the have the depth to do so. Extremely unlikely that the Jets have given up on him and are ready to deal him for futures.
Now if you have a young top 4 RHD that you want to move, maybe a deal could be worked out.</div></div>
I present to you Nick Jensen, he is of the young age 33 and despite his rough first half of the season, he is back to his old self.

Bigger Deeper Stronger
Caps likely accept if they're trying to stay competitive, but I honestly wouldn't. Fehervary is our top pair LHD and the perfect partner for Carly while only being 24. Meanwhile Chychrun, who is better right now, will command at least 7m in the offseason and term that for a team like the Capitals, likely doesn't benefit them unless he ages like Ovi. I don't mind sending Kuemper away and taking on Forsberg's contract. It's really only that I'm not high on Chychrun at all.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KingExLeafs</b></div><div>The 1st and Liljegren have better long-term value than 1 year of Dowd at 1.4 million and Strome for four more years. If the Caps are trying to make the playoffs I agree this doesn't make sense for them, but if they're entering a rebuild, it's a very good deal because Jarnkrok and Kampf can be flipped in 2 years for more picks. And with their cap hit being so low a lot of teams will try to trade for them.</div></div>
You speak like Strome is some 30yo vet.
Long-term value doesn't get trades done in the NHL. Casey Mittelstadt who is 2 years younger than Strome and having a slightly worse season acquired them Sabres Bowen Byram. Elias Lindholm who is having a worse season than Strome and is older than him got the Flames a 1st, a 2nd line winger, a good D prospect, and another young d prospect. Sean Monahan who is older than Strome and also having a worse season got the Habs a 1st round pick. Strome on his own is worth more than the 1st and Liljegren, add in the negative value players you want to get rid of AND you want Dowd.
+ Jarnkrok who has no value is 32 and will only regress and Kampf who is a negative impact NHL is 29 and will also only regress, but somehow despite being worth nothing now they will be worth something in 2 years?
Even if the Caps aren't trying to make the playoffs it doesn't make sense for them to undersell on a 27yo center who has been getting better every year while also allowing for the younger players to flourish behind him, or to undersell on a veteran UFA center who provides stability in the D-zone and takes on the hardest matchups allowing the younger players to play against easier competition + they'll trade him at the deadline for more than negative value. It also doesn't make sense for them to take Liljegren and not move a dman giving them 5 RHD and 3 LHD on the NHL roster + another young RHD who's NHL ready in Iorio. Then you want them to take 2 roster spots away from younger players for old bums in Jarnkrok and Kampf for multiple years without any kind of compensation?
Your trade offer doesn't acquire Strome on his own. Jarnkrok and Kampf are not being moved without serious compensation attached to both of them given that it costs the Caps a total of 11.4M over 3 years to prevent younger players from playing.
Your trade is like if you walked into a bar to get a beer and handed the bartender a couple of hockey cards and said "here hold onto these and they may have value one day" and then also gave him the lint in your pocket.

Caps for sure don't need to add the 3rd in the TOR trade
If the Caps trade Jensen, I''d rather they don't sign acquire RHD and just run Carly, TvR, and Bear/Iorio
Same thing for backup goalie, I'd rather see Stevenson there as he's been by far the best goalie in the AHL and he's only 25

After reading all your comments it sounds like you're actually serious about this which is hilarious.
Strome has been a 60+ pts guy in WSH
Dowd is a top10 defensive center in the NHL, he plays 15mins a night and had the most o-zone draws in the league before his injury.
Jarnkrok and Liljegren and "not playoff performers." Liljegren is still young so he has positive value, but Jarnkrok is old. What exactly does he add to the Caps team?
Kampf is a cap dump, hes "worthless" and a "replacement level AHL player"
And a 1st is nice
So in sum the trade in terms of positive and negative values looks something like
To TOR
+++++ ++++
To WSH
- - + - - - - - +++
Why would the Caps do that?

He has been so inconsistent and really invisible for long stretches (like now). I almost think maybe a bridge deal would be best, but with the amount he has played (and seeing what Protas signed), I doubt he takes anything less than 4m.</div></div>
TBH i'd trade him along with more for a guy like zegras. IMO he's a 3c/fringe 2c in the future and i'd rather sell high on him
