Offers for Lindholm

Description
The one problem this site and us users aren’t able to take into consideration is what the market is for a player. We look at things from two perspectives as Team A offers and Team B declines or accepts. What’s not included is the fact that prices are sometimes driven up on players because of tons of factors
1. What other teams are offering
2. Where the player may be willing to go
3. Trying to outbid for a player and be willing to overpay (I’m looking at you Tampa)

So I wanted to try this. Who wants Lindholm? What will you offer up for him? Then based on other offers you see in the comments you can feel free to up yours or not. Might be a fun experiment and be a little closer to what actually goes on. Include whether or not he resigns and what conditions might be included on picks involved.

I’m thinking at least there would be a bunch of contending teams involved. Who doesn’t want a 1/2 C who’s dependable defensively and can play with top players.

It's pretty difficult to simulate a bidding war on here. Better off just waiting until some rumors start coming out and follow the corresponding thread on HFBoards

Ya just thought I’d try something. Because it helps when you get to see how other teams value your players. Every overvaluates their own players on both sides of the coin. Just trying something new!

dont think you should be able to make an offer for another team. its easy for a sens fan to offer that, a bruins fan might not want to spend that much.

Ya I guess I assume it’ll be fans of the teams making the offers posting.

I think the flames would want Ritchie over Behrens in all honesty. Not sure if Colorado says yes to that or not. Flames are desperate for some top C prospects.

I like Brust as part of an offer for sure. I’m thinking if Van really wanted him they’d have to overpay though. Don’t see the Flames wanting to help out a massive rival without forcing them to do a big overpay.

Ya I like Chaz a lot. He’s an appealing piece for the Flames to go after. Is Winnipeg not happy with their centres the way they are though? Seems like everything’s going pretty smoothly over there right now! It’s about time. I’ve thought they should have made some serious runs for the cup in the past.

Word from the pundits (Seravalli in particular) is that Winnipeg would like to push their 2C down.

Not sure, tbh. From a fan's perspective, I've seen it 50/50 on here with some ok including Ritchie and others seeing it as a deal breaker.

I’ve seen some reporting that Colorado’s looking for a backup as well. So maybe there’s a bigger deal where Vladar goes there with Lindholm for Ritchie, a 1st plus RyJo for cap reasons.

For the Canes, I could see them being interested in a reunion with Lindholm. That being said, the only way they even entertain Lindholm is if he is guaranteed to come with an extension, one that the Canes would realistically be willing to pay out (something along the lines of 6-8 years @ about 6-7mil). If Lindholm stands pat on wanting 1C money as a high end 2C, Canes have no interest. And if it’s acquiring Lindholm as a rental, they aren’t going to spend big assets like 1sts and top prospects for him to play 1/4 of a season.

As for an offer, assuming the above extension is in place, how about 24’ 1st, Ponomarev or Drury (Flames choice), TDA (for cap reasons if necessary; if not necessary then remove), Gunler, and any D prospect not named Morrow or Nikishin.

If he was prepared to take that kind of $ then Calgary would have already signed him!

I see Boston trying to fill a number 6 hole instead of creating one. The max offer I see is Lysell, a #1, and Grz for Lindholm. I personally believe that is an overpayment, but I could see them doing it if they believe the regression we’ve seen is based on something other than age,

Maybe he is willing to sign that deal, but not with Calgary. Maybe a different climate, lower taxes, more competitive team, or the desire to play in a smaller market is the difference between what he would want from Calgary compared to another team that he deems to be more favorable.

I did wonder this myself. There are lots of veteran players who have no interest in going through a rebuild or retool. I don’t see Lindholm taking anything less than say 7.5 but he might be asking for more from Calgary to endure the displeasure of having to lose more than you win, assuming more roster players are dealt.

WPG doesn't exactly have a true 2C. Current 2C is Vladdy, who is more of a swiss army knife doing his best, which is has been decent. Perfetti and Vilardi are natural Cs but have mostly played wing in the NHL and it seems Bones intends on keeping it that way. Lowsy's a great 3C, but that's likely his ceiling. Then there's a bunch of depth guys that can play anywhere... But yeah, no true 2C to be found. The spot's right there, just waiting for Lindholm.

What would you guys like to see as that +? Hopefully just another pick would suffice, cause I don't see Chevy giving up a roster player. Maybe Stanley.

Realistically, probably not much. It sounds like Chaz has a lot of potential. Just based on what I hear around here.

Pretty comparable to the Horvat deal, possibly a lower first but Kuzy > Beau & Brzu > Räty IMO

I think this would be the deal I’d take if I were the flames. Assuming the extension worked for the Canes. But if you want a player you’ll find a way I suppose.

I’d take Gunler, the first, Deangelo, Heimo, and probably Drury. That seems like a lot to me and I’d gladly accept it.

Thanks for the offers everyone. I think this was fun and I may do another for some of the other Flames players.
