Description
I don't even care anymore, loved that Oilers v Habs game, but it just proved again how badly the Habs could use an effective 2nd line. Can't wait for Newhook and Dach back

Anaheims not trading Zegras for a grab bag if lesser pieces. No Reinbacher or Slafkovaky in the deal, then no Zegras.

"bUt He'S a OnE dImEnSiOnAl PlAyEr!!!" Yeah, so are Patrick Kane, Artemi Panarin, and Alex Ovechkin, they still have value.

"bUt He'S pLaYiNg BaDlY tHiS SeAsOn, HiS vAlUe HaS nEvEr BeEn LoWeR!!!" Yeah, too bad he's signed for two more seasons after this, plenty of time for his value to recover.

"bUt DrYsDaLe WaS tRaDeD, vErBeEk Is ClEaRiNg HoUsE!!!" You clearly miss the nuance of the trade, Anaheim was overflowing with puck moving defensemen, yes, it hurt to loose Drysdale, but Mintyukov had emerged as a replacement on PP1 for him. Other than being right shot, he wasn't unique on our roster, and we always struggled to find him a D partner ever since we traded Lindholm.

And hurt is what it's going to take to acquire Zegras, if you heard the news tomorrow that Montreal had acquired Zegras, and it didn't immediately fill you with dread to hear the cost, then it's not enough payment.

Schmidt is a cap dump. Deal with it!

Comparing a career high 60 point, injury prone, trickshot specialist to Hart trophy winners in Kane and Ovechkin is certainly a take.

Savard easily goes for more than that when hes having a career season, RHD with low term and AAV. He went for a 1st and 3rd when he was playing at a lower level. Without a 1st, there's no reason for the Habs to move him especially taking a cap dump for the pleasure of some magic beans in 2026.

Dont you know every Anaheim player is worth multiple 1sts and the last few years dont count because the team is so terrible that you can only trade for a player's pedigree but dont ever, never look at the stats after all Gibson is a elite goaltender dont you know but throw away every stat in the last 5 years, of course. Cause again their team sucks YET has ALL THE LEVERAGE because gibby 9000 says so!

Slafkovsky will be 2 times the player that Zegras will be. Zegras is comparable to Eberle. In his 2 first season, Zegras made 65 points each season. Eberle made 42 and 76 points in his first two. They have the same style. Eberle was trade for Ryan Strome and nothing more...
Maybe Reinbacher for Zegras but still, Reinbacher will be an elite defenseman. Top 10 in the league imo. Zegras will score how many points in his prime? Like 70?

Jets decline hard. Huge overpayment to dump 1 year of Schmidt, who is actually playing well this year. He’s definitely not playing at the level of his cap hit, but not enough to waste those kind of assets to get rid of him.

That offer is so bad that Montreal's GM would embarrassed to send it to Winnipeg.

Pretty rich, coming from the most inflationary fanbase on CapFriendly.

The only Duck any Anaheim stalwart has suggested would be worth multiple firsts is Trevor Zegras.

Speaking of players whom their fans have stated are worth firsts, I'll bet that Frank Vatrano gets more than Sean Monahan, and John Gibson gets more than Jake Allen (yes, an actual Canadiens fan with "Habs" in his user name has posted an ACGM in which Jake Allen gets a first.)

Since you're so sure about the future, got any stock tips you'd like to share? I'd even settle for a position on the World Series winner.
