Monahan isn't a player you actively seek out at the TDL, he's what someone might have to settle for after their A, B and C options fall through.

Monahan can't beat out anyone in Winnipeg's current top 9 and is too bad defensively for the 4th line.

    No interest from Winnipeg.

Anaheims not trading Zegras for a grab bag if lesser pieces. No Reinbacher or Slafkovaky in the deal, then no Zegras.

"bUt He'S a OnE dImEnSiOnAl PlAyEr!!!" Yeah, so are Patrick Kane, Artemi Panarin, and Alex Ovechkin, they still have value.

"bUt He'S pLaYiNg BaDlY tHiS SeAsOn, HiS vAlUe HaS nEvEr BeEn LoWeR!!!" Yeah, too bad he's signed for two more seasons after this, plenty of time for his value to recover.

"bUt DrYsDaLe WaS tRaDeD, vErBeEk Is ClEaRiNg HoUsE!!!" You clearly miss the nuance of the trade, Anaheim was overflowing with puck moving defensemen, yes, it hurt to loose Drysdale, but Mintyukov had emerged as a replacement on PP1 for him. Other than being right shot, he wasn't unique on our roster, and we always struggled to find him a D partner ever since we traded Lindholm.

And hurt is what it's going to take to acquire Zegras, if you heard the news tomorrow that Montreal had acquired Zegras, and it didn't immediately fill you with dread to hear the cost, then it's not enough payment.

Zero chance that pathetic offer for Trevor Zegras gets him, That offer is easily beaten.

I will never understand why you insist on giving assets away when there's plenty of capspace.

U guys gotta stop acting like Zegras is a top10 Center in the league too though
U aren’t getting “four 1sts value” for him

With all the trades and signings you still have $6.5M? Why give up valuable draft capital for two guys with a year left on their contracts? Keep the pick and waive them if there's no room on the roster for them. I think the Hawks accept but that's bad asset management imo.

It’s interesting to figure out what Trevor Zegras is really worth. He had two pretty darn good seasons and got a bridge deal, and now he’s having a bad year. Dylan Cozens had one good season and got paid, now he’s having a bad year too. But right now almost everyone in Buffalo, except maybe Casey Mittelstadt is having a bad year. I don’t think Zegras or Cozens end up getting traded. They are both still part of the core of their teams, and pieces the GM plans to build around.
