Pettersson ain’t goiing nowhere. Vancouver have a history with Swede players, they have couple more young swede coming and Pettersson will extend there. I would love him in a Habs jersey but this ain’t happening. Even with that kind of offer.

Canucks accept trade and then immediately offer sheet Pettersson. Basically trading 1st round picks for 3 years in a row plus Reinbacher.

Vancouver already identified Hugues & Petty as their core for the next 5-8years... he is not going anywhere.
As a Habs fan I would say YES to any TOP c in the league.. but this one is not realistic

If that 1st round pick is 8th overall, like it currently is, CHI probably accepts. I might even be willing to throw in Colton Dach, which I know would make @habitantlecolon happy.

yes i made the team worse by adding a 100 point player and Toffoli. Without giving up Hutson, a 2024 1st (Habs end up drafting a RHD better than Reinbacher) and the likes of Roy, Beck and Mesar

Don't think that 1st is part of the Anderson deal. I think OP is just showing who the Habs draft w/ that pick.

I like the idea of Barron as part of an Anderson to the Hawks deal. But Ylonen and a 3rd isn't enough to push this across the finish line for me. One or the other needs to be upgraded.

If that is the case, then CHI absolutely declines. I thought maybe they were just a noob who forgot to add it so they created a whole new trade to do so.

Barron is fine, but by himself he does not even come close to getting this deal done. Anderson has 3 years left at a $5.5M cap hit and is owed $15.5M in salary. Ylonen and the 3rd are not even a drop in the bucket of what MTL needs to add to get this done. They can make the argument all they want that he shouldn't cost that much to dump, but just last season they charged CGY a 1st to dump a contract that wasn't nearly as bad as Anderson's is. They set the price themselves, so making that argument would be hypocritical.

Barron is a worth a 1st and Ylonen and the 3rd is worth a 2nd, for 3 years of Anderson is plenty

It's a different scenario when you have $9M in cap space while Calgary had none. The cap was also still static. Calgary was desperate and Montreal was the cheapest (perhaps only) option or they would have sent him elsewhere.

I mean it’s a great offer for Pettersson but the only way the Canucks move him is if he won’t re-sign. And if he won’t I don’t see why he’d sign in Montreal but not Vancouver

If that's how the Habs are valuing Barron and Ylonen, then there's no need to discuss this proposal any further. Just make it Anderson, the '25 1st and the '26 2nd and we got a deal.

Barron was a former 1st round drafted prospect and is doing well in the NHL rn, how does he go down in value since then?

Very fair point. But the reality when dealing w/ Kyle from Chicago is that HE values picks over prospects in every deal he's made so far. Not certain he'd value Barron same as he would an actual 1st round pick.

True. But the margin there isn't this wide. You either need to move him or you don't. If you need to move him, pay up. Easy peasy.

Yeah. Almost none of the players he has acquired via trade were long term pieces. They were either cap dumps and/or flippable players, or they were stop gaps. KD wants to build through the draft, and if he is taking on cap dumps he doesn't want MORE roster players as payment. The cap dumps are already adding to our roster and contract limits. And he isn't giving up futures for just about any reason.
