I wouldn't trade Samsonov for Binnington's contract.

You can't have a 5M backup goalie, specifically for 4yrs. Idk what hockey people are watching but unless Woll keeps getting injured he is the leafs #1 goalie of the future. Hildeby is also a possible top notch goalie as well. This team is 2 full season away from making a real cup contender, idk if Trev looks at it that way but imo it's reality.

Watching him meltdown in a major Canadian market would be incredible

I'd personally rather do nothing. I think this team can't afford to hitch cap space to anybody that is a potential question mark...which Binnington definitely is.

Not saying Woll/Hidelby is the path to success...but they're both extremely low risk given the cap hit....and I just don't see an available goaltender on the market that is going to move the needle for me. So I'd rather do nothing for this year and then reassess in the offseason
