Only close one is the Ducks, but you replace Zegras with Carlson. All the other ones don't even get you Drai.....

Gibson says no and I’d assume Verbeek does as well

No matter how good McJesus is, I highly doubt that he ‘tears down’ and deals that many assets for one coming back

I totally get it. What most likely will end up happening, which is quite unfortunate is because they Oiler front office is terrible, we'll miss the playoffs this year, and then Drai will leave the next year. Then we'll be forced to trade 97 for peanuts, because he'll demand a trade (rightfully so). Sad life of an Oilers fan frown

McDavid = Least likely player to be traded in the league who doesn’t have a 100 percent NMC

He could be traded to any team, but not every team would be willing to trade for him. For Draisaitl, but McDavid in particular, a team would basically have to destroy their roster (if they aren’t already rebuilding) to either give enough value (about 6 firsts worth give or take) or to just afford him cap wise. Unless the trade is completely futures based (face it Oilers fans, if one of the big 2 goes, you are rebuilding) teams would be better off keeping their assets and attempting to push for him if he hits the open market.

A lot depends on windows and ability to resign. Columbus might actually be kind of interesting, with a mixture of youth/picks/cap back, but odds of a signature going forward limited. Winnipegs commitment to scheifele/helly probably puts them out of the market, and Minnesota doesn’t have it in the budget with parise and suter not off the books yet.

Most logical spot is Anaheim - they have the cap space and prospects to get a deal done. Although I’d imagine that Carlson, McTavish, and Mintuyikov are off the table - I realize it’s McDavid they’d be acquiring but you trade for a guy like that to support your core, not tear it apart.

Zegras would be the starting point, I think realistically it’s 2 other young players/high prospects plus a couple first rounders.

            Zegras + Drysdale + Jones (?) + 2025 1st + 2026 (top 5 protected) + 2026 3rd for McDavid

Might seem light cause it’s the best player in the world but no team is going to gut their roster to add him or they end up in a worse situation than McDavid is already in in Edmonton and then he walks in 2 years

            Neat

This is why Leafs fans get made fun of so much

If he demanded a trade and said, "only TO" it would truly break you and those like you.

Gibson says no and I’d assume Verbeek does as well

No matter how good McJesus is, I highly doubt that he ‘tears down’ and deals that many assets for one coming back

You do for McDavid. He's better than everyone.

Idk about y'all but I'd do that in a heartbeat lol. The only problem is that Scheif won't be the highest paid no the team anymore, which turns into the same issue as before.

I can make up fake scenarios to try to win internet points too, I just usually don't because it doesn't serve any real purpose

He won't have a long list of teams he'd be willing to go to. Would have to be a contender with similar aged core to him. That isn't a long list and some of teams won't be considered due to their location.

I would think there are 3-5 teams he'd be interested in going to. Maybe 6

Like Stamkos? Or Pietrangelo? Funniest part, they went to other teams and actually won a cup with them

Just like JT. Or just like when you guys said Matthews would never resign. Or that Nylander had to be traded etc etc. Also Pietrangelo wasn't ever offered a contract in TO. So that just irrelevant.

To think the best player in the world would rather go to Anaheim and be on a rebuilding team over his hometown team that has a similar aged core and is very close to breaking through is just hilarious. You guys hate TO more than you like hockey. It's ridiculous

I don't know man. A lot of players would rather not deal with the Toronto media. If there's one player in the whole league who everyone can look at and think "yeah this guy would really rather not do scrums" it's Connor McDavid. The guy just wants to play hockey, I just hope he doesn't end up in the Central tbh.

Sure but he's used to it. And he wants to win a cup. He may find the idea of making TO great and winning the cup a worthwhile thing. Makes more sense than Anaheim
