Nightmare in Edmonton
As an Oilers fan, I'm glad not to see Roy on the backend. Guy's a beast!
Serious question, why do the Kings continue to play 1-3-1? I feel like its better suited for teams that doesn't have star power or can't produce high speed/attack offense. With Byfield, Kempe, Fiala and just speedier players like Moore and Laferriere, I think the Kings can move away from 1-3-1 and play a more high-tempo game.

Brossoit might be a cheaper option. Someone will overpay for Stolarz, just like Dreiger.

As an Oilers fan, I can say Brown's career is not over. He was snake bitten this whole year, i really feel for him. Biggest take aways:
- He was so good defensively all year.
- Great PK'er
- After scoring his first goal, the remaining 25ish games i below, he scored at a 35 point/season pace. I think he can still be a sold third liner for a team.

Why do the Hawks want Marner? Leave their core alone and have Bedard lead it. No need to ruin it by adding a soft and poor playoff performer to it.

Ottawa Haul for Sorokin
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>emoprettyboy</b></div><div>Sorokin's relatively pedestrian numbers this season are a very straightforward demonstration of why goalies don't get have that high of trade value. Nobody's moving a franchise cornerstone, star winger, and captain for any goalie. Same goes for a 1D with future Norris potential. you don't move guys top skaters where you know what you're gonna get for a goalie who could be a superstar or could be literally just average, and there's no way of knowing which you're gonna get. he's a fantastic goalie, but that simply doesn't happen</div></div>
A few comments:
1. Brady is not a franchise player. Don't get that twisted. He's not even top 5. In no particular order, Marner, Mathew Tkachuk, Rantanen, Kucherov and Pasternak are all better. A really good argument can be made that Brady isn't even top 10.
2. I think Sanderson is great, but you're contradicting yourself. Your argument against Sorokin is that you don't know what you're going to get, yet, you say Sanderson has Norris "potential"...good argument can be made that Sorokin is more established than Sanderson. Past 2 seasons, his numbers were among the league's best. This year was a down year, but their entire d-core was depleted...

I’m not moving Sanderson, he’s the next Doughty/Heiskanen/Slavin
Brady Tkachuk is worth way more than sorokin. Wouldn’t even move him for a top prospect and 2 1sts</div></div>
Which is why your Sens will forever underperform. You're acting like Sorokin is just some pedestrian, everyday goalie. He is elite.

Sorokin is a top 5 goalie in the league, probs top 3. He's not going to Ottawa unless Tkachuk or Sanderson is coming back.

Focusing on a better defense
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Rags21</b></div><div>When Lindgren is on his game, he’s easily their 2nd best defensive defenseman behind Fox. But this year he took a step back whether it was from injuries or a new system
He’s just a glue guy. He plays big minutes, he’s tough, he brings some grit and snarl, and his chemistry with Fox is unmatched. So when he’s out, the defense is out of sync</div></div>
Ok, thanks for the clarification. Is Fox successful with anyone else? Fox is a top 5 dman imo, so I would expect he can play with anyone.

I never know what to believe. I've read that Lindgren is the best defensive dman (yes, better than Fox) on the Rangers, and their defense falls apart when he's not in the lineup. Is he just not that good?

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tryger</b></div><div>Wild have already committed to MAF and Gustavasson is the odd man out with Wallsted coming.
LA could go after Lankinen, Murray, Sorokin, etc. for free and likely at cheaper contracts without giving up a 2nd or Kaliyev. I dont get why they are paying so much for something the Wild have to do.</div></div>
Sorokin?! Blud he's one of the best goalies in the league, how do you get him for free?!
Gustaffson >> Lankinen and Murray, easy argument.
I just think for the Kings, Gustaffson is a solid option, and a 2nd and Kaliyev is not a whole lot to give up. Kings are literally a goalie away from being legit contenders, this is coming from an Oilers fan. No point in you guys consecutively going to the FA market or waiver wire and getting goalies on 1 year deals.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tryger</b></div><div>There is a 2nd and Kaliyev for a guy who couldn't break .900 this season. Wild have some of the best shutdown players in the league, can't say the Kings defensive structure is that far off.
The Kings spent less than a million on Talbot (.913 SV%) and Rittich (.921 SV%). LA could do better from free agency, Gustavasson hasn't strung together two good seasons so far.</div></div>
Brodin was injured for almost 20 games, Spurgen gone for basically the whole season...that's the Wild's top pairing right there. Any team that loses their top pair will have a struggling goalie. ***note that i know Faber stepped in and played great***
My argument on the Kings superior defensive structure is exemplified by Talbot and Rittich. Talbot is well passed the days he was a legit starter, but he put together a very good season. Look at Rittich's past season stats, he's never been as good as he was this season. Its obvious that they're success was because of the Kings system...

I'm confused on what the hesitation is? Is it his cap? His cap hit is $3.75mill for only 2 more seasons and he's a year removed from a very good season. Behind the kings excellent defensive structure, there's a very good chance he rebounds.
All you're giving up is Kaliyev, who doesn't have too much trade value...

What Playoff Lines Should Be
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PuckLuck_77</b></div><div>They broke up the Moore-Danault-Arvy line because they were a combined -6 after the first period. That was one of Danault's worst periods I've ever seen him play.
Unfortunately, that plays directly to your guys' strength. I'm a Kopi truther through and through (he has not gotten nearly enough national recognition throughout his career). But the fact of the matter is he has lost a couple steps over the past 4 years. He doesn't have the speed to keep up with McDavid anymore. The past two years that assignment has gone to Danault and he's done as "Okay" of a job as anyone can be expected to do against 97. The issue last night was a mix of poor pinching and no forward supporting those pinching - which allowed McDavid free ice to rush - and Danault really struggling staying in his zone coverage. He lost multiple people throughout the game. In addition, Doughty and Anderson had a very rough game. They'll need to pick up their game if we want to make a series of it.</div></div>
- My thought was that Byfield and Kempe are faster, so they can assist Kopi.
- Kings usually play a very stingy game so it was interesting that we had so many easy rushes into your o-zone.
- TBH, Daughty and Andersson usually do struggle against McDavid, I'm not sure why they get matched against him. Gavrikov-Roy would be a better match up. I thought there was a statistic from last years playoffs that McDavid's line didn't register an even strength point when matched against Gavrikov-Roy.
- I'm interested to see if Talbot plays game 2. IMO, I don't think he lost the game for you guys. I thought he made so really key saves.
- One thing I also think that hampered the Kings offense, Skinner's puck handling in the o-zone. I don't think i've seen him come out of the net that many times to handle the puck. It essentially killed any forecheck you guys had.

Fair, but the main point of what i'm saying is that he's so redundant to their roster right now. That bottom 6 could use another scorer more so than Reaves.

It would be a monumental mistake for the Leafs to dress Reaves...like play McMann or even Robertson over him ffs. They have enough toughness with Bert, Domi, Benoit, McCabe and Edmundson....
