Why in the name of all that is holy would we take a 30 year old Trochek with 6 years term and a NMC?

Why would he waive to leave NY?

I’ll be honest, I could see a Laf for Zegras swap, but this deal doesn’t make much sense for Anaheim.

Why are there so many trade rumors for Z to NYR is it something leaked or?
And Anaheim lose this proposal.

Contract impasse, and he's originally from NY. I could see something involving Laf/Goodrow and Zegras. Goodrow would have to be part of the deal so Rangers could sign Zegras, and he would help Anaheim bottom 6. Would love to see Vatrano come back too, but don't think that would happen.

I rather have Pinto. But I do not see either happening.

Agreed, could slide Trocheck or Chytil to the wing, and have Pinto jump into 3C, but i dunno that NYR can help them enough with cap space.

Why would ANA want an underachieving winger for a good 1C, very good 2C? I do feel Zegras gets more hype than he's worth, but if Laf was a 3rd round pick he'd be gone in a trade package for Tarasenko or someone.

He wouldn’t waive as he wanted to stay in metro. But also ANA doesn’t do this deal without more added from NYR

Zegras+Drysdale > Trocheck+Lareniere.

Plus zero chance of Vincent Trocheck waiving his NMC for Anaheim.

That's probably not enough to get Jamie Drysdale and it's CERTAINLY not enough to get Trevor Zegras. Anaheim won't be taking Trocheck (who's unlikely to waive his NMC) or Goodrow without an extra first being added to the trade value of the player coming over because veterans aren't all that appealing to the Ducks.

Over his career so far, forward and number one overall pick Alex LaFreniere is scoring 0.45 ppg and defenseman Drysdale is recording 0.36 ppg. And it's unclear that LaFreniere has the upside potential of Zegras.

I don’t like Lafs progression, but he’s still worth a good return. If he has the same type of season this year, I’ll change my mind. It’s very difficult to give up on a 1OA and that’s why I can see the swap. There’s also the added benefit of cap flexibility (like ANA needs it) and just the reality that most GMs believe they can fix a player, so they roll the dice.

How often does a team give up a more steady sure thing for the risk? I understand buying low, buy Zegras for a risk ain't it.

I'm not saying Laf is worth nothing, but not someone that is worth more now and is a relatively established hockey player. Laf has shown little to nothing, so he doesn't get to retain as much value as what Zegras has shown. If anything the Rangers get a good value of magic beans, where they hope they get a lot long term, but nothing established of far greater value now.
