Bergeron and Krejci with back to back second round picks isn’t half bad.

Selecting Shenesyn over Barzal was a disaster, but they did end up with DeBrusk, Carlo, and Vladar from that draft.

1971 Habs, Lafleur and Robinson that kicked off the 6 cups in the next 13 years from 73-86, including 4 in a row from 75-79. Show me another draft that had that much success!

Kucherov is great, and probably better than the guys up there, but Palat and Namesnikov are nowhere near franchise defining. Kucherov isn’t even the face of that franchise. Dallas got their allstar forward, D and goalie in one draft. Vancouver got the 2 best players of their franchise. Ottawa got a superstar c and D + a very promising forward

Dallas '17. Possibly 3 players that could have their numbers retired if things go as they should.

Bergeron and Krejci were in separate drafts though. Could go with Kessel, Lucic and Marchand in 2006.

Lundkvist has 0 cups. Is he not franchise defining? If that is how you find a franchise defining player, Tom Johnson is more defining than Wayne Gretzky.

Kucherov is franchise defining, but Palat isn’t. Hell, he isn’t with the team anymore

    Kessel #5
    Lucic #50
    Marchand #71

They also had the 37th. Took a Russian that never played in the NHL Yuri Alexandrov.

Imagine that good of a draft with the 37th pick busting.

Red Wings 89 will always be almost impossible to beat with how scouting has evolved

In recent history it’s Dallas 2017 vs Ottawa 2020, 2 incredible hauls

Many teams would have picked him 2nd OA, only Lafreniere was the consensus #1

One of the best drafts in NHL history… Fans already know about Stutzle but they are going to be notified about Sanderson and Greig in the very near future. Well Kleven too

The thing is even after these 4, Jarventie and Merilainen could also end up good players. I’m not a big believer in Sokolov but he could play a bunch of games too. Unfortunately regarding Daoust, the kid seems too fragile as he keeps getting injured. Too bad because he’s a pretty nice talent too. Had some pretty sick advanced stats in the Q in his last season
