Considering we saw b2b teams give up a third for him idk

He is a lockeroom guy whose well known throughout the league a GM who is in no rush to compete might go thank you and he can just help keep the youngsters safe

Yes, he clears waivers because no team wants he three year contract or has room for on his their NHL roster.
But the the Leafs are a little different. IMO, they will put on waivers, he isn't claimed, so the Leafs send him to minors (on paper only and his cap hit is just 200,000. He is replaced by a 800,000 player so the Leafs save 300,000....at least to start the season.
When the Leafs have a LTIR injury and can afford Reaves to be on the NHL roster, they recall him.
Reaves may never play a Marlie game but he might be on be on the Marlie roster for half the season. Or he might play a few Marlie game (all at home) to keep his hockey edge.
Leafs signed Martin Jones as a goalie. He shouldn't see any NHL time. He will be waived and gets sent to the Marlies as the 3rd goalie. Gee maybe he doesn't even travel with the team but plays some home games only and practices with Marlies and Leafs at home.

Oh, the worse Leaf homer who knows nothing about player personnel or the cap tries to belittle my knowledge compared to his own.
You're totally worthless to this site.

You have one of the lowest percentages of "likes" on of any CF contributor. Shows how much people value your comments.

He doesn't clear waivers only because there are too many GM's with a hard on for toughness, so the fact that he sucks at hockey doesn't matter

If I’m ARZ/SJ/chi/etc(anyone else who could), I’m claiming, retaining and trading him. That being said the leafs won’t send him to the minors for a long time.

Yep that's a possibility too. I'm thinking the three year contact is unattractive to just about all team. Anyway, it's just a theory of mine....right or wrong.

Reaves at league min for 3 years is pretty solid for any younger, softer team that needs that presence. Even if his final year is in the minors, it’s such a small amount to pay for the protection

If Kampf had been signed to just $2 million AAV, we wouldn't have to worry about Timmins, Reaves or Lafferty slightly over $1 million pay check. It's amazing that a quarter million dollar over payment can cause this much chaos.

If you are a leaf fan you definitely want him to be picked up lol. In fact, you they should never have signed him and put Lafferty, Kampf, Jarnkrok on waivers.

Yea, give Reaves a 3 year deal yet couldn't get Bertuzzi, Domi or Klingberg to agree to a multi year contract.

Reaves 3 years as a Leaf will replace Simmonds 3 years as a Leaf.

I wouldn't miss Lafferty or Timmins if they're on waivers but Jarnkrok, yes, I like him.

Bertuzzi and Domi are playing for bigger long term deals. They are using the leafs to increase their market value for next years free agency when the cap goes up. Domi might stay as hes a toronto boy and leafs will over pay for him on term and value because of who his dad is.

Jarnkrok, Laffery and Kampf are solid bottom 6 depth pieces, but leafs are over the cap. SO easier to move them and replace them with some Marlies in the bottom 6 so that they are under the cap and can continue to negoiate with nylander.
