Unfortunately for Habs fans, if the LA rumors are true, I think he's going to the Kings. I think MTL would be nuts to trade the 5OA for a guy who wants $9M

From what I can see and heard, L.a offer would be one of this:

Vilardi + Iaffalo or Villardi + Iaffalo + Byfield


So to me that to much pay for a player who's one year away from UFA. And if this is the price to beat to acquire Dubois I'm happy Montreal didn't overpay.

With this amount pay it's a 8 years contract for sure with L.A which would hurt them in the long term if this is at 9m. Personally I would rather keep the young guy and play them but it's Luc Robitaille and Marc Bergevin Who's with L.A management group.



The best way for any team to get Dubois would have been to pay the rental value on him, sign him a one year deal and made the best push in series possible.

If Dubois ask 10m x8seasons with Kings this is a reason for dont close thé deal

Maybe hé ask just 8,5 x8 for MTL but over 9 if is LA !!!

Dach and 5OA would be a hard pill to swallow

A lot of drama in this saga lately.

So have speculated that Dubois have give 9m to remove some team who would have been interested in him to go to mtl for something around Suzuki contract or 8m average.

Dubois should call Drouin and ask him he liked being in Montreal on a over paid contract before he does anything.

This has to be fake, Dubois isn’t worth the 5 OA + 50 point pace centre on a fantastic deal + a good defensive defensemen analytically on a good deal.

As a fan of both teams I do not see the Habs making this trade. Drop the pick and Stanley and there is probably a deal.

This is more than LAK's rumored package by quite a bit. Dubois isn't doing the Canadiens any favours by negotiating with other teams. When the story was that he would only go to Montreal, it sounded like FLA's pick as the main piece would be a best case scenario.

Dubois is the kind of player that is impossible to get, but with where the Canadiens are at, I think the above package is a lot to give up. I understand the Kings giving up Vilardi and other assets, because they crossed the finish line of their rebuild. Similar to Eichel in Vegas, or Tkachuk in Florida, I think they can look at acquiring the right player and how it might push them over the top now while Kopitar and Doughty can still play at a certain level and while other players they drafted in their rebuild/re-tool are on their ELCs/RFA years. They also have a deep pool of prospects and young NHL players.

If it is Dach, and a 2024 lottery protected 1st (or the 2023 FLA 1st) and a few other assets, it's a no-brainer. 5th+Dach is very risky with where the Canadiens are at and with the strength of this draft.

With Philadelphia apparently wanting to move up to 5, if the Canadiens could move back and turn that 5th overall pick into 7th+22+more, then maybe there is an avenue to move 7th+Dach and make it a bit more tolerable because they would still add a 1st and other assets to their current rebuild. I still think it would be a major mis-step with where the Canadiens are at.
