This rumor just simply can't be true. Blues already have way too many 30-45 point wingers in Vrana/Kap/Saad/Blais and probably Neighbours with a full season. No reason to trade for another and give up high picks unless Briere is willing to take on some of our LHD contracts as well.

Not to mention there is a direct quote from Armstrong a few months ago saying (paraphrasing) that those late 1sts could be used on players but the absolute max age would be 26-27. Laughton is 29.

Briere is probably holding out on a trade before the draft so he can start a bidding war and get a desperate team to overpay. If that plan fails then I'm sure this would do it.

Army has really been beating the drum on the under 27 with multiple years of term (meaning 3+ years)...Not too many fit that bill. Keller and Connor are like the only ones I can think of.

I like Scott Laughton a lot, he could bring a lot of the energy and attitude (and production, and role) that Barbashev brought at a reasonable cap hit.

But he's also the kind of guy who you go out and get when you're already contending, not a guy you go out and get and then build around. Especially for multiple 1st round picks. Would rather they payed that and more for a more top-of-the-lineup player, or just make the picks

is it just me or this is an overpay for Laugton. I dont see him fitting with the team and whose best season was 43 points. If Barbashev was just one prospect who was a late first. Laugtons worth the 29th pick tops
