4d chess move. the downside is they lessen their roster salary this year, but on the upside, they get to carry more money into next year, at a lower overall cost.

tell me a 1mil (6mil cap) tyler myers isnt the perfect coyotes trade target. LIke, for what he brings salary cap wise, he may actually be something they'd give up assets to acquire.

Please tell their GM that 🙏

Are you not worried what they would overpay to move him?

Well considering 2 years of Peterson costed a 2nd to dump at 5mill one could argue a 1 year 6mill deal should cost less to dump

No because we have cap space, and Myers actually eats a lot of minutes + only 1 year left

For those interested in seeing a 224-pick mock draft, we in the GM Game are in the middle of our draft right now. Could be interesting to see when push comes to shove where certain guys go. There's been some interesting picks such as Michkov going 3rd and Perreault at 7th.

So, the more I look at the Hawks…

I know they won’t but they should trade the 1OA prob.

It seems to me if this happened 2 years from now it’s a different story.

I don’t see how you can properly develop Bedard with Tyler Johnson as your 1C.

Hawks should drop to 2 or 3 and take a kings ransom to do so.

3 firsts and the 2OA or 3OA would be better for the Hawks than Bedard rn I feel.

It would be different if the pending generational player was anything besides puck possession finisher winger.

I just can’t get over their current roster. Like 90% of the roster will be different in 2 years. I can’t imagine a worse time to bring on an nhl ready 18 year old.

If the hawks keep this pick they’re doing Bedard a disservice if they do not bring more capable talent in, especially talent that would specifically help bedards development. Proven makers who can win board battles, create passing lanes, play defense in their own zone.

That's literally not what Bedard is, he's an elite offensive center, he's not just a finisher and puck possession guy and he's not a winger

Or, hear me out, the Hawks pick the generational goal scoring phenom and build their franchise around this kid whose still only 18.

The Hawks have a lot of good pieces. I really like Raddysh, Guttman, Reichel, and Korchinski. Doing anything other than picking Bedard would just be ridiculous

Not the worst idea but guys like Bedard only come around every 10 years or so. You trade that pick, you’re never getting an opportunity like that again.

Hot(ish) takes before the draft

Blues trade a first and extras for one of New Yorks young players, or Boqvist if they can move out a current D

Danielsson goes Top 12

Moore slips

No chance this happens but for my own amusement, Flyers draft Michkov then trade him too WSH for their pick plus.

might have more later

Offersheets are starting to become irrelevant in the NHL. Fans keep going whens the next one or oh this guy for sure getting OS but as we have seen time and time again nope.

Fact is the the last offersheet we saw was a revenge story on MTL for trying to steal Aho where Carolina stole KK

If we look from 2010-2023 only 5 offersheets were signed. Only time they were a big deal was 2006-2008

Many factors as to why this is but yea I doubt we see one as teams just aint interested these days

Wood is the best player on this list and closest to nhl ready. He’s at most 1 year away

Simashev is a giant, skates like the wind, and has an extremely high defensive IQ. His NHL readiness is no more than 1 year either. I could see the arguement for Wood over Barlow, but my ranking isn't strictly on NHL readiness. I am also just some random guy on Capfriendly so what do I know 😂

I think earliest he'd go is 5, Bedard, Fantilli, Michkov and Carlsson are all easily better

I'd even take Smith and Leonard over him. USNTDP always produces monsters.

Would Dmitri Simashev be considered a reach at 11? Seems like the kind of guy we will be talking about in a few years wondering "how did so many teams pass on him?"

A big reach considering hes projected at 25-35 rn.

If u can secure a late first in the 20's then u can do it

Reinbacher or Pellika is pretty much the safest Dman picks at 11.

There is no way he is making it past 20. A HUGE mobile defenseman with silky skating and hands is pretty much every GM's dream. He is 100% going higher than rankings have him. Also, he is not ranked 25-35. Rankings are very split with him, some have him later, some have him top 10. I'm not convinced ASP will thrive unless given offensive duties and PP1 time which is something the Canucks won't be giving him with Hughes. I'm also assuming Reinbacher is already gone
