Not sure why you would want 2 years of Armia vs 1 year of Carter, but habs would accept.

Petry for 4 mil for free aint that bad, wasn't a complete disaster last season, just overpaid at 6 mil and doesn't fit our system great. If he only costed us 4 mil I probably wouldn't be trading him

My assumption is to help with the Wild's tough cap situation for this coming season given that MAF doesn't seem to be your starter anymore

I disagree, every game I watched him play in last year, he looked COMPLETELY cooked - slow and easily exposed. He is also badly breaking down, not just taking more injuries, but more concerning injuries and he's not getting any younger... there's a reason damn near every Pittsburgh ACGM has him being traded, everyone who watches him KNOWS he's cooked, even if they don't want to admit it...

The thing is they don't NEED to pay to move cap. They can ice a competitive team without sending out any salary, which seems to be Guerin's intent the next couple years while they wait for the Parise/Suter buyouts to drop. If he was going to be more aggressive, you'd have already seen them trade away 1st round picks and prospects. They were in the running to win the Central last season up until the last week or so, if Guerin was willing to be aggressive just yet that was the time.

25/26 is the year you'll see them make some big moves. They'll have a ton of cap space, it's Kaprizov's last season before he's a UFA so Guerin needs to convince him he can win in Minnesota, and they'll know what they have in some of their prospects by then.

Petry had a good season. You can't argue against that. .

If you don't want him because of age, salary, injuries, etc, that's fine. I get it, and I would agree. But stop saying he's cooked lol - that's just factually incorrect.

    Does it really matter?

Detroit needs two RD for next season and is Petry really worse than the Hägg/Pysyk/Lindströms out there?

We're not going to be competing for the cup during the next two years anyway and if we offered to help out PIT with taking Petry + Carter + Blomquist + 1st (either one the next two years) for future considerations then I'd do it and use one of our firsts this year to draft one of Sandin Pellikka/Willander/Reinbacher. In the long run it would be a great deal for us and it would fix Pens' immediate problems.

If it nets us some valuable assets, fine, but I'm not taking him on for ANY decent assets going out, or for a crap compensation. If he had 1 year left, it'd be far less concerning...

Nobody is going to pay assets for him.

Petry isn't going to handcuff us the next two years, we have the cap easily to handle him. He can even be our #7 his last year if need be if we draft someone that is close to being ready (Reinbacher).

I guess that's where we deviate, I'm not even willing to take him on for free... I also think he's going to drop off a cliff HARD this upcoming season from injuries... I expect him to play less than half the games and not well...
