I love Nylander. I actually like the trade. The only issue is John Marino has been a godsend for the Devils blue line and is the shutdown dman this franchise badly needed if they wanted to have meaningful games.

That would be a MASSIVE overpayment for Tanev, so of course you'd take it. It's a fair deal for Toffoli, we need to dump salary, and he's not likely going to repeat 2022-23, might as well sell high.

There’s nothing to suggest it will, in fact unless we have another RW to unseat him from the 1st line and PP#1, he should have another great year as a Flame

Also that’s a very late 1st RD Pick. Maybe we retain on Tanev or take the 2nd out, but he should fetch a 1st + a Mod-Pick/Prospect + Roster Player (Lafferty or Timmins)

Tanev is solid defensively and should still hold good value

Why would the production of a 31 year old that exceeded his career high in points by 15 points, set 8 years ago and hadn't exceeded 50 points again until this year fall off? Hmmm... I wonder.

He just turned 31, which isn’t old. He still has a couple peak years left, he just needs the same opportunities & situations and he’ll replicate his stats no problem. He’s pretty much always scored on a 30G+/82GP pace as well
