Hayes would probably be a better for in my opinion. Would keep Roslovic for his defensive play and back up centre option. This team is ready to break out in the next few years of they can get steady defence and goaltending.

Don’t hate any of these moves. Kuzy is crashing like a stone but a fresh start on a young fun team might be refreshing for him. Plus we are only on the hook for Kuzy for 2 years. One full year then we can retain half and move him at the following deadline.

I just don’t see Jsrmo making that Kuzy trade. The team enjoys a great room. Kuzy has a lot of baggage to him. I expect whoever is the pick at 3 to have a role model C to play with.

Did you really just say keep Roslovic for his defensive play and as a backup center option? Those are precisely the reasons everyone wants him gone, because he can't do either of those things.

Hayes has baggage too. He's been labeled difficult to coach at multiple stops.

Kuzy is one year younger than Hayes. I think if either player is going to revive their careers with the CBJ, it's going to be Kuz. He also has 2 years remaining to Hayes' 3. so it's less risk for us if they don't work out.

Kuz has also been a PPG producer for several years. Hayes has never hit that threshold over a full season.

I was told he was good defensively. I didn't know he was bad like that cause I didn't think he was great offensively. I know he's better on the wing and not at centre but he can play that spot. Good points made with Kuzy over Hayes.

Yeah, Ros stinks at center ice and can't play defense. He's soft. Great speed and puck handling, but he just doesn't seem to process it all quickly enough. His slight build combined with his low compete level means he just lacks the ability to bring a physical presence of any kind. I still think he could be alright on the wing, but his trial at center has failed for three years in a row with CBJ,

Kuznetsov plays with significantly better players and has rumored character issues as well. The gap in here is close but all things considered I’d prefer hayes

Kuzy has never reached his full potential but he's pretty much been a point per game player (when healthy) until last season. I wouldn't say he's crashing but he definitely needs a fresh start and I expect him to be back to a point per game player on a different team.

The best description of Roslovic I've ever seen is "all tools, no toolbox." He's a great skater with quick acceleration and good edges and he's also a good puck-handler, which is why he works on the PK even if his defense on the whole is lacking. But he's got no hockey IQ. You can watch him trying to process in real time, which is fine except when he's on the ice with Kent Johnson or Gaudreau or even Laine who all have high hockey IQ's and literally don't need the processing time for plays. He can do the actions of hockey admirably well but the hockey mind just isn't there.

This wouldn't be my first choice for a kuzy deal but I wouldn't hate it. I would honestly prefer to not take back Bean or Roslovic and just have the pick (for other caps fans, its 34oa this year). As you've already discussed in the thread, Roslovic is maybe the closest stylistic match to Kuzy their is in the league except without the truly game-breaking high end. I would only really see him playing 3lw for the caps next year, and they can spend that 4m better. Bean as well has had pretty horrific on-ice results and has played long enough that his 1st round potential isn't really worth betting on anymore, LD is also not at all an area of need for the caps as they already have 3 NHL deals signed and will almost certainly resign RFA Fehervary. With both of their deals expiring and CBJ not really needing the space, would be a lot more appealing to the caps without them imo
