The Kings will give up nothing of value for Auston Matthews. He'll sign in LA as a UFA next summer if he wants to play there, otherwise he won't and will sign elsewhere. There's zero reason for LA to give up anything of value for him.

If Matthews wants to sign with LA in 2024 he'll do it as a free agent. There's noway LA is giving up that much for Auston Matthews.

And if Tyler Bertuzzi was willing to sign for 3 x $5,000,000 he'd still be in Detroit not Boston. Plus if Bertuzzi signs with any Canadian team he loses his US visa and won't be able to play in the states since he's unvaxxed.

IMO there's zero chance Dubas trades Matthews this summer even if 34 refuses to sign an extension. He'll hang onto him through next June as an internal rental for the playoffs, hoping a deep run will convince AM to re-up in Toronto. It's a gamble, but since it would be Kyle's last shot at holding the GM job, it's a risk he'll be willing to take. Letting Matthews Walk will be the next GM's problem.
