The Leafs lose that trade so badly

Let's play a game called "How to spend 10 million dollars":

Option 1:
- Terrible, miscast number 1 defenseman who posts worse defensive results than every other Leafs defenseman (aside from Rielly)
- Middle 6 winger who eclipses the 20 goal mark at his best, but typically hovers around 15 goals

Cost of Option 1: $10 700 000

Option 2:
- Top line winger who consistently scores at a 100 point pace and nets around 30 goals
- One of the best wingers in the entire league
- Extremely elite playmaker (Makes Matthews and Tavares better)
- Has the best defensive results of any forward on the team

Cost of Option 2: $10 903 000

The choice is clear. Bagheads will baghead I guess

Philly is heading for a rebuild, Zero chance i see Danny Briere taking on Mitch Marners contract.

And i can pretty much guarantee you that both Kane and O'Reilly get more than $3,500,000 per both will be highly sought out on the open market.

If 11m X 2 years Marner were to traded, it wouldn't be for Pronovov and Garland and there 10 plus million gumming up the cap.

Marner would get a much better return than that. Likely include some high end prospects and first round picks.

agree but that's not really a fair assessment of Konecny, 28 goals and 55 points in 53 games, on the Flyers no less.

My criticism was in regards to Garland, who I do like, but him at 4 mil and Provorov at 6.75 is miles worse than Marner

Never base the valuation on outlier seasons. Also Provorov will never be a leaf. Anti LGBTQ players just won't ever be Maple Leaf Material.

So youre saying you know nothing about value??? If you think Marner is worth more than a point per game 1st line winger and a 2nd pairing LD than you need to check the program.

You're obviously the one who has absolutely no clue about value. You're definitely not a Leafs fan.

To say Konecny is a point per game player is a stretch at best. This year in 53 games he is a point per game player he hasn't been close in any other season. The leafs would get more for Marner on his own in that deal. This is a crazy trade to begin with because the leafs aren't trading their only player on the #1 unit in every situation, their best PK forward maybe the best in the league and one of the top 5 best 2-way wingers in the league.
