He won't be in game 1. It isn't even a "if this continues" thing. I told you guys awhile ago that one of the kids are going to get benched. I figured it be Sandy but he got moved so that leaves Lily

To me I feel hes still got a shot but hes really gonna have to show hes got it. As rn between him and Gustafsson I have noticed Gus in a better way even if hes a one dimensional guy like Rielly

Anyways I hope for the best but as I said before hes not helping his case.

How about the defense Sheldon? What about them?

Yeah the D takes some blame tonight but let's not kid ourselves, if Murray/Samsonov don't find a way to stop 1-2 goals that happened tonight in a playoff series, Leafs likely are not winning. This is not me being negative, just reminding everyone who the goalie at the other end of the rink is and what he's capable of.

In general Liligren was good till the TDL then seems to be falling apart. Keefe has given him ample opportunity but hes not done well which is why were seeing the ice time drop.

I hope this is just some odd slump and he rebounds but man if this continues hes not gonna be in game 1. And yea agreed hes not gonna request a trade as why would he. Keefe is putting him out with guys like Gio, McCabe, and Rielly and he hasnt looked good with any of them. He needs to work on himself as this current version is not the guy were used to seeing

Yep...one the one hand I'd say we gotta cut him some slack...but come playoffs it will be a cut-throat mentality dishing out D-minutes.

It's easy for us to forget that Liljegren is just 23, had his best friend traded away...and finds himself needing to fight and grind for playing time with all the acquisitions while trying to fit in with different d-partners. I'd guess it's just a matter of him trying too hard instead of doing what had been working all season for him. Not sure if that will correct itself before playoffs

agreed. The first Burns goal was pretty bad, IMO. And Murray has battled big rebounds all year. That last one needs to be absorbed better or pushed off to the boards.

I feel that Murray, at this best, is better than Sammy....but at his low is unplayable. I'd have more confidence in Sammy's consistency.

You brought up some good points regarding Keefe and his deployment of players and well... especially this season, I have not been a fan of his insistencing on using certain players (Holl) when they clearly deserved to be scratched or certain tactics (5 forward PP).

Keefe is the first guy IMO that easily gets the boot if the Leafs don't get to round 2.

Dangle and Sportsnet after show explained it best.

Broken plays seem to be Murray's weakness next to glove side top bar.

He allowed 4 BUT did he have a bad game. No.

The third goal (even though what I think happened with Cookie) was one he should have had. Fourth goal u could argue we need a save there

5 on 3 whats he supposed to do. He cant mimic that Dallas performance every night. And the second goal Marners controller died

Still has things to work on but hes making the goalie case interesting. As to me in a game where u need a save on a broken play u go to Sammy but the defense also got to help as that night nobody looked good and Liligren (Yes I know Rielly was there to but) he needs to be better to stay in this lineup as Gustafsson is coming

The one thing im happy with rn Matthews woke up. I had a feeling it was coming as I believed this year he was like wake me up near playoffs. And were seeing it

Last 2 games 4 goals combined while still leading the NHL in blocked shots (84)

He definitely seems more focused on team goals vs individual stats and peaking at the right time. I get the sense we're going to see him drop it into a another gear come the playoffs.

Knew that shootout goal would get Kerfoot going

While 2 goals in 5 games isnt great its better than 26 games without a goal

Keep him with JT

Watching Evangelista has been a lot of fun tonight. Really liked him in London. This Preds team looks like a fun team. Woll has been fantastic tonight though, definitely a regular next season

Got a bit scary at the end but overall not bad

Good 45 mins of hockey. Little to open in the end.

Nothing like playing at 7.5mil D shelter mins, even if is ABSOLUTELY necessary.

Joe Woll looked really good tonight. Hope they give him the net against FLA

My guess rn is we probs got to win the next 2 games to clinch playoffs.

Lighter schedule this week with a b2b on the weekend (again seriously) so probs will clinch by Sunday

Hopefully ROR is back by the weekend.

This is probably very close. I wonder if O'Reilly didn't get hurt if we'd see him as 3C but given the lack of playing time they may just go with what was working for him when he first got here

I wonder if they stack the top 6 for home games where they have more control on the matchups and then spread it out a bit during away games so there isn’t really a line that can get exposed

Curious after 13 games what people’s view on Sam Lafferty is: 1G 2A / -3 / 16 Hits / 8 Blocks / 11 Shots
CF 92 CA 162
GF 3 GA 5
SCF 51 SCA 75
HDCF 28 HDCA 33

For context, Joey Anderson (TOR) in 14 games: 2G 1A /+1 / 17 Hits / 6 Blocks / 13 Shots
CF 135 CA 87
GF 5 GA 4
SCF 73 SCA 31
HDCF 34 HDCA 11

Lafferty has been a real disappointment for me. Haven't seen anything impressive from him, looks limited and lost, and has been at 5v5 a black hole and bringing down team results.

Was expecting more from him

I mean, I wasn’t really expecting anything from him lol. I thought when they got him he’d be a 4th liner and nothing more.

I was at least expecting him to be a positive player, not negative
