You may be right about Kane loving NY, but I don't see any Eastern Conference team helping the Rangers with their cap issues. With his M NTC, and so many teams against the cap, Goodrow is not an easy trade.

I think he could see BUF as a up and coming team. He would be good on their fourth line with Girgensons and Okposo, and BUF gets a good defenseman for their troubles

Goodrow can accept a trade to 16 teams he has a 15 team no trade list, Who says those 16 teams can comfortably afford to take him on. Doubt he's going to be an easy move. And the odds of Patrick Kane willing to take 2 x $2,000,000 from the Rangers is pretty small. I'd be shocked if Kaner takes anything less than 3 x $6,000,000 and Jeff Marek has possibly linked him to Detroit this summer.

He’s on the wrong side of 30 and makes over 3.5 to play in a fourth line role. He also is under 45% at the dot this year. I like the player but not the contract. He costs more than McGinn to dump imo, but he can be moved.

But for sure if Goodrow wants to stay a Ranger, he lists any team with cap on his no trade list, which includes the Sabres. There are few teams if any that would take on his full cap in a trade.
As you suggest, the Sabres are a rising team and should be good or even very good, very soon. Nice Eastern Conference travel schedule, and in a city that appreciates hockey. IMO the Sabres are a nice team to be on for a player....but still the M NTC might be a factor.

I would be fine doing this as a sabres fan.

I guess I look at it this way (NTC aside) - I don't think *any* team helps the Rangers with their cap issues for this cheap. It's not a good contract, his most expensive salary years are the next two ($5M each year), and there is still appreciable term on it.

If he waives for my team, sure I'll take him, but it's gonna hurt a lot more than this for NYR.
