Description
Ideas behind the trades for both teams:

1. Montreal gets a young starting goalie for their future and the present. Primeau doesn't seem to be the guy now for them in net. The Flyers get really good draft picks and Montembeault. Montembeault can be traded for more picks if the Flyers are willing to do so. Goalies normally don't demand massive returns, so I think a Debrincat like return is reasonably fair for Hart.

2. Montreal does Chicago a big favour by giving Chicago the Price contract. Price is LTIRetired now, so trading him won't be an issue. Chicago also does Montreal a favour by taking Hoffman, and gets a draft pick (and Montreal tends to find lots of hidden gems in late rounds too).

3. Montreal gets a pick for Edmundson. Waiting too long could run the risk of losing any value Edmundson has left. For the Penguins, they add a veteran defender (and they love their veterans). They could also put Edmundson with Petry which was quite good in Montreal.

Other notes:
Farrell and Struble should be the first guys called up if someone gets injured. Farrell I could see being a full time NHL guy after the deadline and Montreal sells off some guys, like Gurianov.

Why is Chicago not getting picks too Price does zero for them other than cost the owner real dollars,so that costs. Hoffman is a cap dump so ,that costs. They are paying for 2 negative assets in this 😅 . Send a 2 or 3&4 and maybe they say yes.

Hawks are like 20 mill from hitting the floor next year, so imo the Price contract is an asset to them to help them hit the floor, and Hoffman is just the price they pay for it.

Your arguement is silly, Chicago would demand picks in return for “helping” montreal out of a situation. sorry but it’s buisness and helping you guys free up cap space will cost you.
just like Monahan cost a 1st to move to you guys last year. fair is fair and you’ve weponized your cap space in the past now your turn to pay up.

I would rather keep the picks and Monty and find out if Monty has hit his stride. He was once a highly touted prospect so maybe it just took him longer to put it together.

Price isn't taking up capspace though and we saw both Arizona and Vegas trade for Weber's LTIR contract, so there isn't any reason why other teams won't trade for Price's (it may not be the Hawks though since they are rebuilding)

Price won’t cost much especially if there is insurance on his deal, but you have to remember weber’s deal is unique costing 1 mil actual dollars for almost 8 in cap, he’s like the perfect cap floor option. price still cost high actual dollars

That's valid, maybe Montreal waits another year to trade for Hart because we can't trade Allen this offseason due to his extension.

Hart offer is more than fair IMO and with suzuki Caulfield Slaf and whoever you pick this year the team has a super strong young forward group with Hart and a few solid D your rebuild will look really positive long term

With the way LTIR works, price going on LTIR will just allow Chicago to spend 10.5 million over the salary cap, so it'll still count as a cap hit for them to hit the floor but doesn't cost them actual cap room.

No likely a 5th-7th round pick if there is a team that wants to get to the cap floor or use LTIR for the season to make the playoffs and hope Price can take one last run for them.

that’s a thin thin possibility but yea to me best real case senario is Smith, or Dvorsky but both are really good top 6 potential guys. and you have more than the guys i mentioned too but those are the bigger names.

Hawks decline. Price has 3 years left on his deal, and Hoffman being the price to "get" Price makes it an even faster no thanks. Hawks will have other options to get to the cap floor that benefit their rebuild more than this.

Yeah smith would be nice too but an all Slovak line of slak-dvorsky-mesar would go crazy in the future.

Let's assume for purposes of this discussion that your premise (that Chicago needs dead cap to meet the cap floor) is correct. Even so, they will have much more attractive ways to accomplish the same objective. For example, they could buy one year of Tyler Myers (or Tanner Pearson, or even both) from Vancouver.

I agree! there is something to be said about the ability for a whole line that speaks the same language and are the similar in age. those 3 could be special.

you still have to pay his actual salary though so it will cost a pick at the very least. to be honest MTL should just stash him on LTIR and call it a day.

The funniest part is the Devon Levi hype. He is a 7th round pick that has his stats ballooned because of NorthEastern's play style. Same exact scenario as Cayden Primeau as a 7th rndr playing for Northeastern, who's turned into a bust after a lot of hype

Got to love cancel culture but I do hate the lack of ownership that so many play off here. Own your take, don't dismiss it, say you were incorrect. It happens. No one is perfect. We are human and emotion doesnt always translate well here. I have been incorrect before. I like to think I've been more correct than wrong (pretty sure I have been) but no one knows everything.

The best sort of intelligence is knowing that most decisions we make are based on emotion and our perception. if you learn how to learn then you are on the road. One aspect of this is to be aware that you don't know much and use the strengths of others to get the result for you. The most successful people in life are the ones who listen and learn from others mistakes. its impossible to know everything and be the best in all fields so you master communication skills and build relationships to use others skills and research what you need only. Too many people are too proud and some of the smartest people don't want to use others as they have built their identity around their IQ intelligence..... i see it every ****ing day. clever fools

The one thing about this site is that some people are always gonna bash you for a take, especially if that take is wrong. Was i wrong about the Chicago trade? easily. it doesn't need to happen and Chicago can find other likely more effective ways of hitting the floor, and I overvalued the cap hit for Chicago. people overvalue their teams players all the time. those on here who typically bash people's takes never post their own, or get bashed for their takes when they do post them. Cause the reality is, ACGM is completely hypothetical, and while some ACGM's are more realistic/well thought out than others, there's always going to be someone mad about a trade or idea anyways.
