True. Schenn would just be there if anyone gets injured or we need a little bit of toughness (Clifton can provide it as well). Its touch because I see us trading our first rounder but I don't know who would fit for it.

I don’t think a 25 2nd is gonna cut it. I think the Blues prefer a quicker use for the assets obtained.

What would your offer look like? I don't think the Bruins will be that open to trading any roster players and we happen to not have any close 2nd rounders. Most likely you guys will trade him elsewhere.

-I don't see Anaheim sending an asset back here - where's the value for them? Craig Smith is a pending UFA with a $3.1M AAV, you could argue that a late 5th might not even be enough value to get them to eat his contract, much less get back an LD who's a point per game guy in the NCAA right now. Jack McBain got back a 2nd round pick for Minnesota last year even after he announced he wouldn't sign; I don't see Thrun's rights being any less valuable than his.

-Edmonton doesn't have the cap space to make this happen. I'd also argue that this deal would only work in the summer, when Reilly will only have 1x$3M left on his deal - if another team is clearing $1.875M off your cap at the trade deadline, I'm going to assume they're going to want something out of it. It's a different story in July when a team at Arizona looks at Reilly as an NHL-capable player they can plug in to next year's lineup.

-If the rumored price for Schenn is correct, this doesn't do it - lots of folks have been throwing around 2nd round value attached to him. Koppanen is not a prospect at this point, he's an AHL/NHL tweener, and that doesn't add enough value to the 3rd to equal 2nd round value. This offer gets beat by another team that would want Schenn, and pretty easily.

-I think St. Louis is going to want something more for kicking the 2nd rounder three drafts away, and another tweener like Steen isn't it. Add a mid-round pick or a mid-tier prospect and this would bring it home (the Blues might even offer some retention at that point, too, meaning you can probably afford to keep Reilly on the books til the summer and not pay to dump him mid-season.)

Adding more junk to a junk offer isn't gonna do it, either, retention or not. And the Bruins have arguably the worst prospect pool in the league anyway.

Saw another ACGM with Brett Harrison & a 2nd going for Barbashev - Harrison isn't a slam dunk prospect, but I think he's interesting enough that it would make up for the pick getting kicked down the road. But yeah, if the agree value on Barbashev is a 2nd, Boston's already behind the 8-ball trying to get him in, since they've already moved their 2nds this year and next.

    1 - It's not.

2 - Yup. And their prospects are hella-meh.

Most logical route with Boston is either the 23 or 24 first. Would be shocked if it was a puck before 30. But that probably with a pick or something going back to Boston. I’m moreso adverse to this option as I’d like the Blues to re-sign Acciari. But the possibility of something making a bit more sense for Boston. Although Idk how you fit 2 guys in to your plans currently.

Could be something like 23 1st + a non Lohrei/Lysell prospect for Barbashev @50% and Acciari.

Again, I just don’t know how you guys fit two guys into your plans unless you have Barbashev on a 3rd and Acciari on the 4th and push Smith into an extra role when Debrusk gets healthy running a 4the line of Foligno, Acciari, Frederic

Good deals all around, but ya Schenn only sees ice if injuries occur

Edmonton declines. They have less than zero cap space and aren't in the market for cap dumps.
