If Hughes actually turned down a first for Anderson it should be a fireable offence. Anderson is on the same career trajectory as Lucic right now except Lucic actually had 5 50+ point seasons at some point. Since Lucic joined the Flames he has put up 0.3 points per game, in that same timeframe, Anderson has put up 0.4 ppg. Even this season they have identical points/60. Calgary isn't going to latch onto another poorly aging contract while getting Lucic off the books.

Sure the Habs might value him as a 1st + and I'm not saying it's not possible but there's no chance it's the Flames that make that trade especially at that price. We can't afford Anderson, he doesn't upgrade what we already have, and we'd be thinning our already shallow pool of prospects. The Flames haven't shown any reason to think this is the year to throw some chips in a go for it not do I think Anderson is the guy that makes any difference to our situation.

What we need from you is one of Kaiden Guhle, Arber Xhekaj or Jordan Harris. Guhle is probably out of reach, and you can't realistically trade Harris because he went out of his way to sign with you only this year, so the focus is on Xhekaj and whether he's available.
