Thoughts On This Trade
It's too much and I'm a Flames fan. Besides, the rumored Markstrom deal was scrapped over cap issues so there's no way NJ could afford to pay both Marky and Hanifin without sending cap back or Calgary retaining a lot.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>bwhsocal</b></div><div>Id absolutely love to get hanifin in AZ, but him coming out saying only wants to go to BOS, man did he screw CAL with that. what team is going to pay close to value for a guy that is walking end of the year? BOS can wait the year out and get him for free (no return) and CAL gets nothing.
CAL might get a true contender to take him as rental and give something to try to win this year but how many of those teams have the cap space.
AZ could give CAL way better package of picks/prospects to get him than BOS</div></div>
Huh? I can't find anything about him refusing to go anywhere but Boston. Gotta cite your sources on that one.

We'll see I suppose but the stupidity of GM's still blows me away, although it shouldn't. You're right, Zadorov's probably max worth a mid-round second, that doesn't mean that's what he'll fetch.

And So It Begins
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KingExLeafs</b></div><div>Conroy dealt a 30 goal 70 point guy ahead of the season for peanuts. He's inexperienced, so there's that element. Also, the Flames will have to retain if they want to trade these guys because all the contenders are tight to the cap, so they won't get anything extra for the retention. It's baked in the deal.
Again, we have to remember one guy is a 5D and the other is always an injury risk who has played 82 games only once in his career, so no team is going to overpay to get them.</div></div>
Yeah and Brad Treliving dealt an MVP candidate for a guy who scores 50 points a year and a top 4 d-man. It's really easy to spin trades poorly if you ignore the market context. I've seen the exact same package in these trades over and over, it's not going to cut it if you have to compete with other teams for the same players. The Flames would be stupid to package any of the d-men together when they could get more by trading them separately. They absolutely could get a first for each of those guys, worth it or not.

Trading the flames 4 big ufas
That went off the rails fast, Zadorov deal is the only reasonable deal here. Why are the Flames pick swapping what will be a higher pick and adding a 3rd for a contract dump? Dallas is not a fit for Hanifin, and that's a massive overpay for Lindholm.

The Flames won't package d-men, completely ruins their market position. You get Zadorov or Tanev, not both.

If any of the 3 d-men go to Vancouver be prepared for a steep divisional tax, if the Flames can move them east for a similar package they will.

I mean if the Flames were selling I think I'd be okay with this but ultimately it's really unlikely they move on that quickly from a guy they just got back in a big deal. I'd be less surprised if it was Hanifin that ended up moving.

Deadline moves 1st try
I'll admit as a Flames fan I know nothing about Mayfield but what I do know is that Calgary shouldn't move thier first rounder this year for anything but a top 6 forward and maybe not even then if they don't turn it around soon.

Leafs Trade For Huberdeau Plus Other Pieces
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KingExLeafs</b></div><div>It doesn't matter what he did on Florida. On Calgary he isn't working out, plus he has a huge extension. Flames will have to pay to move him. That is, if his game doesn't rebound next year, which is a big question mark.</div></div>
So we should just ignore 10 seasons and trade him based off of 50 games? It's literally been been half a season... I think he'll figure it out eventually

Leafs Trade For Huberdeau Plus Other Pieces
I really can't tell if this is a joke or not. A guy who has averaged 0.89 ppg prior to this season has "negative value" and the only possible way the Leafs could be enticed to take on his services is to be compensated with a top pair defenceman on a steal of a contract. Elite level bait for sure.

Going for the Big Splash
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TooMalevolent</b></div><div>This definitely feels like a trade Sharks would take. Like you said, giving up alot but I can't think of a team that needs Meier more. Perfect fit.
One note: can they do 8x$8 mil or 8x$9 mil next year on the cap?</div></div>
That's just it, the Flames would have to send a roster player with term and a decent salary back to afford Meier past this season, maybe even two. It would make it a bit complicated from the Sharks perspective but they could flip any roster players the Flames include for more.
A more feasible deal for Calgary with cap considerations would be something like Mangiapane, Zary, Kylington, and maybe a conditional second that turns into a 1st if Kylington doesn't come back. Not sure if that's the best offer on the table for the Sharks though if they're looking purely for futures.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>J67</b></div><div>Ok I'm habs fan, and some people tend to judge others by their favorite team. Why? To my opinion, that Andersen deal is also to much.
And a late 1st pick is no better than Dube to be honest. It's 50 % chance that it will be a flop.
To me Andersen is a big, fast and a streaky scorer with an average hockey IQ. But he proved that he is a playoff performer and it's valuable to any team who want to be a contender.</div></div>
Hey unless you're an Oilers fan I don't judge anyone's favourite team, just a comment on the fact that most bad Anderson deals are posted by Habs fans. Everone overvalues their own players so it's not a jab at Habs fans in particular.
I've already explained why Calgary wouldn't do it, I can't speak for other contenders but I would imagine most if not all would be scared by his cap hit as a start.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SMH</b></div><div>Im not trying to trade him to the flames but for some reason you take it personally when someone is trying to trade him to the flames, in the real world every guy known in the hockey world has said he's a dream player for every single GM in the league, btw the injury concern is such an old cliche, he had a big injury that required surgery and because the team refused him to get the surgery he had a horrible season and made it worse and for that reason he wanted to get traded so that's the only reason why he was available to the habs, he now had the shoulder surgery and since been playing beautiful hard hitting physical hockey</div></div>
I'm not taking it personally, there's just a lot of deals that send Anderson to the Flames that are really bad. I outlined why it doesn't make sense from multiple persepctives.

MAYBE your opinion isn't the best?</div></div>
Yes because GM's and their staffs never make mistakes. But you're right, all it takes is one GM to meet the valuation from Hughes to make a deal. My opinion is that it's a mistake to value him that highly and that it would be a bad idea for the Flames to make that deal from a variety of standpoints that I'm sure the Flames staff have significantly more insight into than I do. If I can identify flaws in the deal with the limited info I have, I'm sure smart hockey ops people can as well.

I've seen all the justifications out there, the bottom line is this: He's being paid 5.5 million and has 1 point less than Adam Ruzicka who's making close to league minimum. He has an extensive injury history. He does not fill a hole on the Flames roster that could not be filled by a cheaper and younger option. We don't need anymore penalty killers, Dube is a great penalty killer already and is making half of what Anderson is making.
The Flames have 3 million in cap space next year to fill out the bottom of the roster and that includes Lucic's salary coming off the books. If Calgary makes any trades at all this year, they should target a top-6 winger with term that they can resonably work around. Anderson does not make sense for this team in any shape or form nor should Calgary be willing to move roster players or any of our top prospects, of which we have very few, for a player that would most likely be deployed on the 4th line. Adding Anderson would cost us a good roster player after next year because of the cap sapce he takes up as well.

Sure the Habs might value him as a 1st + and I'm not saying it's not possible but there's no chance it's the Flames that make that trade especially at that price. We can't afford Anderson, he doesn't upgrade what we already have, and we'd be thinning our already shallow pool of prospects. The Flames haven't shown any reason to think this is the year to throw some chips in a go for it not do I think Anderson is the guy that makes any difference to our situation.
