I'd rather keep the remaining 3x$5M on Pageau's deal (plus the picks) than give Ryan Donato 5x$3.5M and bring in Joel Edmundson to be a $3.5M 3rd pair D.

Keep Pageau at 3C, stick Nelson in at LW on the second line, and spend $2M on a UFA defenseman that's actually a right hand shot for RD3. $9.5M for Horvat is probably a little steep - I'd think he signs around $1M less (if not more) so you can use the money you're spending on the depth guys and get a better LW for the 3rd line (because giving Matt Martin & Ross Johnston that many minutes is a...choice.)
