A 1st for Korpisalo? Am I missing something?

I'm sorry. What? Did I read that Edmonton trade correctly. A first for Korpisalo. Hmmmmmm. I must just be seeing things.

Other than Edmonton desperately needing to make a move. Korpi has a 3.32 GAA and a .907 Save % behind the worst team in the league. Assuming Edmonton has a league average D-core he could help them along in the playoffs.

Korpisalo hasn't posted decent numbers since the 2019-20 season. If " Edmonton desperately needed to make a move", they could target Allen or Reimer, which would still cost much less than a 1st.

Korpisalo wouldn't even catch you a 3rd.

Gavrikov probably gets a late 1st (or similar) at deadline.

But unless NJD have an injury, our blue-line is probably set at...

Gavrikov could replace Smith for a couple of weeks, but its now been confirmed that Luke Hughes will arrive after his NCAA season is over (so late March, early April)

I understand the goalie market isn’t going to be very good but a 1st for korpisalo? Geez. Goalies don’t have great value. Add in Korpisalo hasn’t upped his value any this season.

He’s upped his value but won’t get close to a first. Probably will get a mid round pick

I don't think you guys know just how valueless he had become last year. Saying he hasn't increased his value this season says that you have absolutely ZERO understanding of Korpisalo's value and have watched NOTHING of him this season. This is absolutely indisputable.

Did you perhaps get your Edmonton and New Jersey trades mixed up? NJ would probably part with a later mid-round pick for a goalie upgrade (no chance of Korpi netting anything higher than a fourth, I'd think). Edmonton could possibly part with a first for Gavrikov, although that's not Holland's MO generally speaking.

Woof the hot take is steaming. His value is a young streaky goalie behind a bad defense. That value hasn’t altered. It isn’t a first. His hot streak will always be appealing as he looks like a true number 1 but then his off days make him look like a back up.

Are you actually this thick? I already agreed he isn't worth a first. You said he hasn't increased his value this season which he absolutely and inarguably has compared to where he was last year. Also, he isn't young. He's 28 years old and he's in his 8th season in the league. Who are you even talking about?

In the terms of who will be available this offseason, he will be considered young. It was basically be Korp, Lankinen, and 1 starter under 34-35 on the market.

And he is still has this off again on again goalie. That still hasn’t changed. No matter how much you want to argue is solely about this season. He still doesn’t have much value as he hasn’t in the past. Teams will not be able to trust the results and goalies are voo doo anyways.

Stop arguing. He was literally untradeable last year. His value was nothing. Even if he didn't get injured he was not going to be of interest to any team in the NHL because he was a blackhole of goaltending. He is tradeable this year. He has increased his trade value this year because he is playing at a level that is equal to a competent NHL goaltender. It is indisputable. If you followed the Blue Jackets you would know these things. You clearly don't or do in such a peripheral manner that you have no understanding of the team. Just stop.

You are not wrong. He probably was untradeable last year. This year, he could be worth a 4th-7th rounder to a desperate team in need of some stop gap goaltending while their starter is injured or something.

So yes he has more value than he did last year. Anything more than zero is more but who cares, really?
