Why does OTT want a rental Dumba? I can see him as a UFA player they go after, but they aren't a Dumba away from being even a fringe Playoff team this season.

No reason for Ottawa to do this right now... While I think Dumba would be an improvement in the top 4, there would be no room for him next year unless he took a massive discount, which he will not take. Also, if Thomson is ready for top 4 minutes, Ottawa will most likely keep him.

Dumba's still strong defensively

Yeah he has his moments where he kind of gets lost, but yeah he is still a top 4 Dman alot of Wild fans don't like him now because he is not producing offensively like he once did. But overall his game is still solid and he is a great leader in the locker room. I would think his next contract would be in the 4-5 mil range.

Personally I think if Dumba was traded or just even signed in FA this summer he would probably play alot better alot of people forget he has been in trade rumors for 5 years and survived 2 expansion drafts thinking he was the odd man out, he is still human and I am sure that puts alot of pressure or at least is a huge distraction for the guy.

Yeah Dumba is not the solution and his contract status makes things even more complicated.
