That's certainly one way to put a bow on the KK saga. I think Robinson would be a fantastic fit for the Canes, but I don't know that there's any motivation for Columbus to let him go. He's a childhood friend of Gaudreau and is a good PKer and backchecker on a team who really doesn't have any of those otherwise, even if Liam Foudy makes him a bit redundant.

Beyond that, Columbus would have a big surplus of NHL level centers, especially after this years draft likely being one. Though I could see them picking Michkov with Johnson and Silinger already in their system, Ideally being their long term 1 & 2 of the future.

I think I'd be happy with this as a Sharks fan. Jarvis looks very good, and Timo I think would be such a good fit in Carolina.

One thing I'd change is to throw in Merkley for a younger, two way focused RHD prospect and a future 3rd instead of Lajoie.

Meier deal, okay i but i don’t like it but, a no from the Canes on the Columbus deal.

Necas is unlikely to play center this season.

I wouldn’t make the Meier deal as Carolina tbh, and I don’t c any incentive for Columbus to acquire KK.

Canes definitely pass on the Timo deal. Sharks won’t be getting Jarvis. And for the Jackets deal, Canes aren’t going to move KK halfway into year 1 of his extension, when he is only 22 and is the perfect long term replacement for Staal. Meier and Gavrikov would be excellent targets for the Canes, but moving 2 pieces of the core that fit really well is not a good idea.

How is kk the perfect replacement for Staal. He is simply not that good.

And to get a guy like Meier you'll have to pay. I am neither a sharks nor canes fan but I think that's a fascinating deal for Meier and an under pay for gavrikov.

Kotkaniemi is one of the better defensive centers in hockey. He's one of the best play drivers in the sport. His shot isn't great, but he's fine as a player. He's Jordan Staal but Finnish

Do you watch Canes games? If not how can you judge how KK is?

From 20-22 Jordan Staal was playing 19-21 minutes a night. Kotkaniemi has played 12-14 at the same age

Staal was given d zone starts too. Vs kotkaniemi is second highest in ozone starts among Carolinas main C's at 58%. It's Staal himself at 50%

At 21 Staal was third in the league at Selke voting. Kotkaniemi has never got a SINGLE vote

So all of that is without even mentioning the large difference offensively. KK is nowhere near the player Staal was at that age

all of your talking points are fairly meh.

O zone starts is fairly meaningless especially when the whole team is above 50.
Measuring Selke votes is hardly a measure how a dude is going to play later
Staal has had 2 seasons worth mentioning his entire career. So im not sure there really a large difference there.

Seeing how you dont watch him play, please dont tell us how he isnt good.

At 20, Staal's xGF started to double and grow quickly. Kotkaniemi's did that during the bubble season.

During Staal's third season, he was a big part of the Penguins getting to a cup run, Kotkaniemi did the same for the habs.

When Staal came into the league, he was one of the best in -threat situations. Kotkaniemi entering the league was the single best (you can check this on HockeyViz if you'd like)

Not to mention:
He's going to have more O Zone than D zone starts, Carolina dominate position and possession.
Selke votes is an awful way to evaluate defensive skill. Mark Stone should have won every Selke since his 2nd to last year as a Senator. He hasn't. Absolute BS way to evaluate that.
Staal's has maybe 3 good offensive years. Kotkaniemi is 22. You cannot say there is a large gap between them offensively at this point. Neither of them are good offensively.

So, I get you do not watch KK. You do not look at underlying numbers or analytics. So please, do not tell me how good this player on the team I have not missed a single game for is when you pay 0 attention.
