And while Asplund isn’t in the lineup most nights, it’s him caught up in a numbers game & not really his play
We just like Jost & Krebs better at center than him
And we aren’t gonna sit Girgensons or Okposo (who both wear letters) to get him in the lineup
Asplund has proven to be a valuable bottom6 forward for us though

I don’t think we’re looking to move either player

Seriously? No. CHI currently has the best odds at the number one overall pick of any team in the league. Bedard isn't just any number one overall pick either, he is a game breaker generational talent. He has a serious shot at stealing the title of "best player in the league" from McDavid, and he will be insanely affordable for the foreseeable future. Why would a rebuilding dumpster fire of a team give that up for a 31 year old $11M player? In no world does any team give that up for Panarin. I wouldn't give up any 2023 top 10 pick for Panarin. If we were a contending team loading up for the playoffs with no shot at the 1st overall pick and the cap space to pull it off, that would be a totally different story.

Why would it matter when a team is in a complete rebuild? Panarin is the last thing the Hawks need, Bedard or Fantilli is simply worth way more to any team than Panarin at this stage in his career and accompanying cap hit and ever more so to a rebuilding team.

Bedard is also projected to be a way better player than Panarin. Think Matthews, McDavid, Crosby level...no team will pass up a chance to draft him regardless of the player being acquired.
