You think Dumba would sign a 5 year extension at $5.0 mil?

Don't think someone who reached 30 goals once in an outliar season is going to get the return of a '30 goal scorer'. Timmins being added does nothing for the Leafs cap. They've got plenty with Muzzin on LTIR.

You think it would be smaller? Or you think he will not sign elsewhere? The Wild cannot afford him next year. They need to do whatever they can to get the best return. I thought WPG was a good location as they have a D need now and in the future and they are in 1st right now so they might as well go for it.

I was thinking he would be that type of player again replacing Bunting on that top line or playing on the second line with JT91 and Marner. Hartman is on pace for 25 goals this season not between KK and Zuc. Yes, I think he is that type of scorer. He also was early in his career when the Hawks were a better team.

In some ways I like the Hartman trade, but the Leaf need Timmins too. He's the 7th Dman (he actually playing tonight due to Brodie's injury) and is needed next year assuming UFA Holl leaves.
That's quite an assumption that Larkin agrees to a deal before the trade.
Can't see the Jets giving up a first for a rental,, and then there shouldn't be assumption for an extension.
Like the creativity of the post.

Thanks Palhal. Timmins was there to make some money work, but I agree they need a 7th Dman.

I'm originally from Detroit and for Larkin to not have a deal done already gives me lots of angst so I think if the Wings were going to deal him its either he signs an extension bringing back the most value in a package or he is a pure rental and signs back in Detroit.... somewhat of a sweet hometown thing to help the club (I know, I'm dreaming).

I think this might be the Jets time to go for it as their group seems tight and they only have 2 RHD on their roster with room to take on Dumba for a deep playoff run. The extension does still work next year if wants it.

Jack Peart is a highly rated D drafted in the 2nd round (rated 1st rounder) on top of Rossi being picked in the top 10, it's basically 3 1st.... seems more than fair. And I'm a DRW homer.

Detroit passes, If we wanted Rossi we would've drafted him. Yzerman might've drafted smallish forwards with Tampa but he won't with Detroit. And Peart isn't a need as our LD pipeline is among the best in the NHL. And good luck convincing Larkin to sign a long term deal in Minny. I just don't see it happening.

Yes, I understand your Larkin angst. Strange how the captain has been resigned (I don't blame any party, it's nature of UFA). Can't see teams giving up that much for Larkin or in a rental trade, and Wings still have hope for a playoff spot. IMO Detroit is nice destination for UFAs as Wings are time on the rise, have cap, prospects and in the Eastern Conference.

Yeah I see one of Johansson, Wallinder, Buium being traded to acquire a C or scoring winger in the future.

We don't need Peart, We already have about 10 LDs in our organization and all are far superior to Peart And if we wanted Rossi we would've drafted him.

Wallinder pretty much plays RD even though he's a LHS like Dahlin. if we move him it will be for Horvat in a package deal. Basically only way i see yzerman letting go Larkin is if we get Bo Horvat to replace him.

Just to add....I'm watching the Leaf Flyer game. Timmins just scored his first NHL goal. Jarnkrok has been a nice LW addition recently to the Tavares, Marner line. Both Tavares and Marner have been very productive lately. Jarnkrok has been a contributor to this.

Makes total sense. Edvinsson obviously untouchable, but I do see one of those guys being traded as Sebrango is also on the upswing and McIsaac nearly past his "prospect" status.

Yeah, Jarnkrok was a Wings guy and his a solid glue guy that can play with speed or muck it up in the corners.

Boldy will be a bridge deal until dead caps end. The dead caps hits end before KK needs to resign. With the cap going up slightly and the UFAs MN has to sign, most are under or at $1M. Yes, Larkin is worth this much in a sign and trade. M. Tkachuk netted an establish superstar, a top 2-4 Dman and a 1st.... we are talking about a 1st and 2 prospects. I realize Larking doesn't have the same value as Tkachuk, but he is still a top line C that plays 200 ft and scores nearly or at a point per game while being 26 and in the prime of his career.

Minnesota and Detroit would be perfect trade partners for Dylan Larkin on the surface but, I don’t see it happening.

Larkin likely wouldn’t sign an extension with Minnesota and the cost to acquire him would be too expensive for where the Wild are at this point.

I think he'll get at least 7.0 mil somewhere and he probably wouldn't want that to be in Winnipeg. So, the Jets shouldn't be giving up a 1st for a rental.

I don't see Dumba getting anything over his $6M AAV right now. I only see it being lower. Watching a lot of Wild games this year, he is worth $4.5M to $5M but not $6M+ and def not more than 5/6 years as speed and making splashy hits is a part of his game.

I was dubious of his four year contract, but he has really been the glue has you suggest.
Tonight, scored on one timer on beautiful Marner pass. He made a wonderful short pass to Tavares which Tavares wired for a goal. Won a offensive zone face on a penalty kill, back to Liljegren who scored on a slap shot. That's a very good night by anyone's standards.

The KK situation was not a normal situation as he was an RFA from KHL..... He wanted to sign long-term for $10M+ but the Wild didn't want to do it knowing they had the cap hits in the future so they signed him to only 5 years with his UFA status after the cap hits are done. Unlike a Jack Hughes situation where he was the first pick, didn't really put up points, but were banking on it in the future and signed him 8x8.... that's a gamble, but it worked out. KK already put up tons of points and obviously showed that from day one in the NHL, but didn't have great rights or drafting pedigree. This was all on purpose and strategic.
