Add Toronto s 1 st to Detroit trade

The KK situation was not a normal situation as he was an RFA from KHL..... He wanted to sign long-term for $10M+ but the Wild didn't want to do it knowing they had the cap hits in the future so they signed him to only 5 years with his UFA status after the cap hits are done. Unlike a Jack Hughes situation where he was the first pick, didn't really put up points, but were banking on it in the future and signed him 8x8.... that's a gamble, but it worked out. KK already put up tons of points and obviously showed that from day one in the NHL, but didn't have great rights or drafting pedigree. This was all on purpose and strategic.

You sure on that? I feel like a million more would have been possible to mend the gap. KK basically said he wanted 10 million, the organization said 9, he KK said fine but walk me to UFA or I go back to the KHL.

IIRC the Wild did offer him 10x8, and he declined. Maybe 9.8...I forget. Don't take for granted he stays.

Larkin isn't available. Value is irrelevant unless it's McDavid or Makar.

Makar is flawed. No thanks. His game is based purely on his speed. Give it one injury, like E Karlsson, or even a little slowing down and he becomes much less dangerous.

It was hyperbole, as those two are the two best players in the NHL. As much as I love Larkin, he's not even remotely worth either of those players and that's my point - a team would have to overpay on such a ridiculous level, that a GM loses his job, before Larkin being traded would even begin to be a real discussion.
