After thinking it over this is a nice path for Dubas to explore. There is another one but its kind of boring

Henrique and Jenner bring in some vet presence and can add some scoring depth while keeping with the defense mentality

I went 7 D as honestly we got 7 good Dman and we really dont need a complete 4th line. Like what we saw with Tampa in its past 3 runs just go 7 D

Thoughts on cost to acquire Jenner if Leafs are not on his no trade list?

And what do you think adding Dube from Flames in a some combination of a trade where they end up with say Kane or Tarasenko?

Jenner would probs cost a good bit due to the contract and the skill and versatility he brings. Never heard him say he was opposed to Canada and while some Canadian teams would probs be on the M-NTC I dont think Toronto is. As Foligno probs put in a good word

As for Dube doubt flames move him. They in a playoff spot and hes been one of the few bright spots

If Flames go get a forward Zary or Pellitar will be used

My thinking was Kerfoot (who they can flip for more assets) , Abruzzese, Steeves, rights to prospect, and a future 1st, not 2023 for Jenner

My only wish for Matthews this year is to go into God mode come playoff time. Be the superstar that he is and lead this franchise on a long playoff run.

I dont think teams are gonna look at Kerfoot and go gimmie. Like unless its a dump trade where we get almost nothing I dont see it.

He either has to be packaged off for someone or stays (doubtful). Most of those guys u also listed are not gonna be the prospects teams want for their good players. Guys like Voit, Niemela, Robertson, Minten will be the asks

In general I would give a 2023 1st for Jenner. As he is the perfect 3c for us and with that contract and experience going up against both Boston and Tampa in the post season thats an asset worth exploring.

As 11 goals and assists is more than what the majority of our bottom 6 have combined

As rn this is our bottom 6's production

Kerfoot 6 goals 13 assists 19 points
Engvall 8 goals 7 assists 15 points
Kampf 4 goals 11 assists 15 points
Holmberg 4 goals 7 assists 11 points
ZAR 4 goals 1 assist 5 points
Hunt 2 goals 2 points

Compare that with the top 6

Matthews 47 points (20 goals)
Marner 50 points (16 goals)
Nylander 47 points (22 goals)
Tavares 43 points (20 goals)
Bunting 29 points (13 goals)
Jarnkrok 20 points (9 goals)

We need to go get guys for the bottom 6 that can increase production, create chances, while still keeping the defense strong.

How about comparing it to our playoff opponents

TBL
Nick Paul 15G 9A 24 points
Ross Colton 9G 8A 17 points
Corey Perry 6G 9A 15 points
Namestnikov 3G 6A 9 points
Maroon 2G 5A 7 points
Bellemare 1G 4A 5 points
80 points
Balcers 3G 2A (injured)

BOS
Coyle 10G 13A 23 points
Zacha 5G 20A 25 points
Foligno 6G 12A 18 points
Frederic 9G 8A 17 points
Nosek 3G 4A 7 points
Smith 2G 3A 5 points
95 points

Kerfoot 6 goals 13 assists 19 points
Engvall 8 goals 7 assists 15 points
Kampf 4 goals 11 assists 15 points
Holmberg 4 goals 7 assists 11 points
ZAR 4 goals 1 assist 5 points
Hunt 2 goals 2 points
67 points

It absolutely needs to be an area of improvement. Which is why moving Jarnkrok down into the bottom six so you can upgrade the top 6 LW helps.

I really hope at some point we get to see Holmberg paired with Jarnkrok to see if there is any chemistry offensively.

They really need to be looking at:
Bunting Matthews Nylander
? Tavares Marner
? Holmberg Jarnkrok
Engvall Kampf ?

Bunting Matthews Nylander
Henrique Tavares Marner
Trenin Holmberg Jarnkrok
Engvall Kampf Bjugstad/Acciari/Bonino

Filled in the blanks with an interesting idea.

And u might be going why Trenin hes got less goals than Kerfoot. Well Trenin seems to be a playoff performer.

Like 3 goals in 4 games for a 3rd/4th liner aint to shabby. Kerfoot had 1 goal and assist in 7 GAMES

Bjugstad has 10 goals and 7 assists rn. Other guys to consider Noel Acciari and Nick Bonino who also be good for the 4th line.

Henrique is the one people gonna go huh but this man seems to have found life on the LW. Put him with Marner and this man could reach for the stars. Also can play C in the event Matthews or JT get hurt

Actually for the 4th line I have been wondering about someone. Someone whose been with the Marlies and who could be interesting. Adam Gaudette. The guy can score and has some good hands. Maybe hes regained enough confidence to where he can make an impact in our bottom 6.

Like if he can go back to being the 2020 version of himself he in business. As Engvall-Kampf-Gaudette incorporates good defense with a guy who can provide the offense the team needs.

we have so many NHL forwards we don't need a 4th liner. Like not at all. 3rd liner maybe if its cheap but Jarnkrok sliding down already helps out a lot

I dont think you have been watching most of these guys

If we compare them to our current bottom 6

Kerfoot 6 goals 13 assists 19 points
Engvall 8 goals 7 assists 15 points
Kampf 4 goals 11 assists 15 points
Holmberg 4 goals 7 assists 11 points
ZAR 4 goals 1 assist 5 points
Hunt 2 goals 2 points

67 points

Adam Henrique 13 goals 10 assists 23 points
Nick Bjugstand 10 goals 7 assists 17 points
Noel Acciari 9 goals 8 assists 17 points
Yakov Trenin 5 goals 7 assists 12 points(Costs way less than Kerfoot and gives us more production than ZAR and Hunt)
Nick Bonino 5 goals 7 assists 12 points (Costs way less than Kerfoot and gives us more production than ZAR and Hunt)

81 points

And most of the guys listed are making less than 1.5mill besides Trenin and Henrique while having more production than what we currently have and wont cost a fortune to get for 2 months of work

So lets say we get Henrique, Bjugstand, Acciari,

Matthews 47 points (20 goals)
Marner 50 points (16 goals)
Nylander 47 points (22 goals)
Tavares 43 points (20 goals)
Bunting 29 points (13 goals)
Henrique 23 points (13 goals)

Jarnkrok 9 goals 11 assists 20 points
Nick Bjugstand 10 goals 7 assists 17 points
Noel Acciari 9 goals 8 assists 17 points
Engvall 8 goals 7 assists 15 points
Kampf 4 goals 11 assists 15 points
Holmberg 4 goals 7 assists 11 points

95 points and as matthewsfan showed that would put our bottom 6 tied with Boston and beat Tampa's

Not sure if the Leafs passed on him in the summer but if Strome finds himself without a spot with all the players coming back, I hope Kyle takes a run at him.

Holmberg Strome Jarnkrok 😁

He totally is, but with Backstrom, Kuznetsov, Ellet, Dowd it’s crowed down the middle.

Guess they are trying to find out the right combinations with everyone back 🤷‍♂️

Caps fans are rightfully angered by the decision to scratch Strome. What a boneheaded move from Laviolette

I guess, but any combination that removes Strome from that equation is the wrong one.

Gotta think that there's something bigger going on with Vrana being scratched in the AHL, but...

Depending on what the situation is there, Leafs should be checking in.

Surprised they dont just trade Eller as hes a UFA and they kind of dont need him anymore. Still a good 3c but kind of surprised they hs Strome. Now Strome's one weakness is he needs to kind of play with top players or else the production aint great but Oshie and Mantha should be good enough

But hey is u can bring an RFA in strome to be the 3c and build around him go for it.

If they can add scoring to the bottom 6 as mentioned above and if goaltending can hold up this team can make some noise

As we both showed the bottom 6 compared to our 2 rivals just aint adequate. Like Tampa's bottom 6 isnt doing great yet has more points than ours. A bruh moment indeed
