They're both awesome, and I think neither team would even consider it.

I think these are both very similar players. Both teams are winners because neither lose. That said each would be more comfortable with the player they already have.
One thing to keep in mind with Thomas is that he has not yet been passed the torch of being "the guy" in STL, as such his ice time and utilization isn't leaned on as heavily as Suzuki is in MTL. I think this has limited us from seeing Thomas at his absolute best consistently. Still he has done wonders with less minutes and high danger minutes so I could only imagine how good he will be once he's the face of this franchise.
I personally think Thomas has the higher ceiling but Suzuki is better right now.

even with Zuki's amazing start? With this start, we can potentially say that he could hit 90 in the future. Is Thomas's ceiling that high?

Montreal wins. It's not like a slam dunk or a fleecing or anything, Suzuki's a great player but Thomas is a bit more creative offensively, and a much much better passer, in such a way that he can elevate players offensively around him. Suzuki locks things down in his own end and can obviously chip in a decent bit of offense in his own right (off to a torrid start this season with a 15.7% oish%) but I don't think he can really elevate those guys around him in quite the same way.

Enjoy it while it's happening but a shooting percentage of 27% and an on ice shooting percentage of 15.7% is not a great indicator that this is sort of offensive dynamo is who he is now.

Thomas had 77 in 72 games last year, that's an 87 point pace for 82 games. They might be mostly assists but Thomas is just a hair shy of there already.

Hit 90 what? If you mean points, Thomas was at an 89 point pace for 82gp last season, and that was with two minutes TOI less than Suzuki.

The Suzuki line has metrics that are unrealistically high and are bound to fall off. The shooting % of that line is not even close to some of the greats of all time. Statistically it's going to fall off and probably quite significantly.

I cannot deny that the start is great, but I will deny with full confidence that a strong start implies that we will see more of the same throughout the whole season.

As a neutral fan in this argument, if I'm building a team, my choice is Thomas. But they're darn close to dead even for value.

Worse comment of the day, Nick Suzuki made Nate Thompson produce on a 4th line

Well, I guess that is the incredibly specific small sample that officially decides the matter, so clearly there can be no further argument.

Offensively I agree. I do think Suzuki has the edge defensively though Thomas is no slouch.

Suzuki has played no defense since MSL took over. The gap between offensive ability is immense too. It’s Thomas by quite a bit.

Suzuki plays with wingers who can’t play defense
Even Bergeron wouldn’t have good defensive stats playing with guys like Caufield, Hoffman & Anderson

For a rookie in MTL it’s so hard to make it too the top6, Suzuki started on the 4th line with Nate Thompson, went on the 3rd line, then the 2nd line and surpassed Danault in the same year to finally be MTL #1 C. And he played with wingers like Nick Cousins, Arturri Lehkonen, Jordan Weal, etc. Yes he finally plays with an excellent winger like Cole Caufield, but Thomas plays most of his career with better players
Anyway IMO they are equals

Thomas plays with Tarasenko. And Suzuki did have previously strong numbers but they’ve evaporated as he’s started scoring. That’s fine, but it’s much more valuable to do both

Thomas played most of his first two seasons with Bozak and Maroon. He wasn't regular top 6 until last season. And until this season, played like two minutes per game less than Suzuki. But that wasn't my point, I wasn't saying one was better than the other. I was just laughing at him going to "he made Nate Thompson good for a while" as the primary piece of evidence.

Ok it would have been a primary piece of evidence if it was Dwight King my bad
