Rangers fans - I literally said any return - the first was a place holder so dont come @ me with Kuz and worth a first.

Avs fans - Swap Newhook for another prospect if you want, I'm not high on him at all. 1st + prospect is pretty fair value for a rental player of Horvat's Caliber (see Chiarot, Toffoli, Giroux, Foligno, etc trades).

For the Devils. - I thought with how Demko has been playing this year that it would be a tough sell. I think his back is broken from carrying the Canucks but he had a lot of hype last year as a vezina caliber goalie and is on a great contract. Other pieces (1st+) would work.

I would be ok moving the '23 1st for the right rental, Hovart is maybe 5th on my ideal list. There is a 1% chance he can be resigned so I wouldn't give that 1st and a prosepct like JLF or Kaut. Avs window is open now, but it isn't a narrow one. Its not until Mikko needs a new deal that it could close quick. D.Toews will be tricky but I think it will work out.

COL would move that 1st (as part of a larger package) for a top 6F upgrade but would be looking for a piece with more term or contract control (RFA status).

It's not so much they won't move the pick, but moreso the return not being a half season rental (at least not for a 1st rd pick)

Look at the deadline deals from the last couple of years and that's a pretty fair price. Whether you want to pay that is another question but I don't think its laughable.

Makes sense. You guys managed to do it for Lehk last year so I don't doubt Sakic/McFarlane are capable of it. I guess it becomes a question of who is available and if your FO are willing to be patient and potentially not make a deal.

It's laughable. Very much so. Newhook is not just an 'ok prospect', and by your own admission your 'sure-fire top 6 C' sucks.
