Kovacevic cannot be traded without going back on waivers to the teams that tried to claim him.

My issue with these trade is it weakens the leafs forward group to much . I'm all for trading on of the big 4,. Also I would want more back for Marner than just Hughes.

Vancouver is in no position to weaken their defense further, and doesn't have the cap room with a healthy roster to take Marner.

Furthermore, Hughes has significant term left on his deal, Mariner is going to need to be re-upped soon, and it'll be hard to convince him to even stay at his current number. So why does Vancouver entertain this?

Oh I agree I don't think the Nucks would do it. I'm just saying I would want package for Marner and not just trade him for a D man. I will be doing my own Nucks leafs Marner trade, down the road. It's not that I think the Canucks are the right fit. I am going to do a marner trade with every nhl

Marner is an exceptional player. He takes a lot more than Hughes. The exchange wasn't good enough for Toronto, I even changed it

still isn't. why would the leafs want another offensive minded and defensive liability in Hughes, they have Rielly playing that role? If the leafs do any upgrading on LD than Sandin has to be in the trade.

Islanders don't touch that deal, Sorokin is just to valuable to them.

Habs say yes

You can get a better return for Marner

Leafs fans have been proposing trading trash for Sorokin since the beginning of time. It’s ridiculous.

Pezzetta is exactly what the Leafs need, I keep saying this. I think he's worth William Villeneuve.

MTL Pass

Pitlick is Byron's Heir we'll re-sign him likely giving up our chance to profit off him becoming a pending UFA just the same.
I'd trade him in a heartbeat but MSL put Pitlick at 2nd Center when he got here last year with this quote to answer why
"I figured if we cant win faceoffs , we gotta atleast have the 1 guy who comes away with the puck everytime"

Hughes Had ownership of Pitlicks rights with all the leverage
He let his RFA rights expire working out a deal to sign him as a UFA immediately after without talking to any other teams.
MTL on all levels is doing a lot to accomodate Rem likely in hopes he'll still be here when Rhett Turns Pro and the more Rhett blows up in NCAA the more over Rem is in MTL.
Its self fullfilling cycle that only ends with atleast 1 Pitlick in a MTL Jersey at all times lol

Pezzetta is a no as he's our Chattahoochee or Pez Despensor lol
Fans love him, Players love him and he's great with the French Media despite being limited to basic French Terms .
Not to mention he takes the Light Weight fights when the players to small for our 6'4 Widow Maker doesnt feel like Squashing them and taking the heat from the NHL.

MTL gets nothing it desires
we went quantity already and Contract wise we're spread thin
Each year before Hughes we were already letting multiple players rights expire due to lack of room.
We wont always have them be willing to sign to our AHL team when they do like Stapley
Nor will we be able to sign UFA's like Arber "The Sherriff " Xhekaj when we find them

Its why Hughes put so much effort into moving Weber's contract despite it costing nothing and allowing us to go 10% with him on LTIR.
Rumors are Byron's deal is being shopped as well

If you want both those guys 1st round pick and a prospect like Villeneuve,Kokkonen or a depth guy like Rindell
Otherweise we're happy keeping both players as 3 forwards in MTL are pending UFA's to be dealt at the Trade Deadline
They'll both have plenty of ice time soon enough and even more next year with Hoffman a pending UFA
While we could bring up Ylonen and RHP to fill Pitlick and Pezzetta's spots it wouldnt fill the Void left by Pitlick and Pez

Canucks can’t afford to trade Hughes. Our defense is already pretty bad.

I would rather have hughes than marner, Elite PP QB's and 2 way defenders are a lot harder than elite 2 way wingers

I accept that you feel that way, I just think if the leafs trade marner they need more back.aldo the leafs don't need another LD. If Hughes was a right shot I would be more will to consider it.

same can be said in both directions, Hughes is one of the best defenders in the league, and the canucks have a plethera of wingers, if you want one let us know
