I’m still betting fairly small, I’m actually gonna track how I perform this year lol. Last year I turned $25 into $382.20, but that was largely due to hitting several free $10 bets on ridiculous parlays, so I don’t actually know how my bets did lol. Today I did the following bets, $1 each:

NSH ML + U6.5 (+150) - payout $2.50
Hertl goal anytime (+165) - payout $2.65
Josi O2.5 SOG (-180) - payout $1.56
Hertl O2.5 SOG (+145) - payout $0.00

Net: +$2.71 (+67.75%)

In preseason I took 6 PLs (one parlayed with an over), went 3/6, net +$1.15 (+19.17%)

Ridiculous parlays is my middle name.
Free bets are goated, I was feasting on the NBA’s freebies with the Celtics.

There was one day I bet on Jokic to do like 4 ridiculous things (I think it was like, 30 points, 13 rebounds, 10 assists, and 2 steals or something) and he did lol. Also made some money betting on the Chiefs, Mahomes over passing yards and Hill/Kelce TD were free money. I woulda made like $1500 on a free bet if OBJ hadn’t got hurt and Kupp made one more reception in the super bowl lol (it was like a 10 leg parlay and 6 of them hit, OBJ woulda cruised to 2 of the last 4 and Kupp was one reception and if it was like an average yardage he woulda hit the other 2)

It’s a great “hobby” but it is a dangerous path for many people. I keep most of my stuff low as you mentioned to ensure I can’t get out of hand. But it made me start watching some other sports or teams and it’s always fun as you mentioned with that Joker NBA bet. I think I’ve done some pretty weird MMA bets. You can play safe and steady and win easy money for those who want to dabble but not get lost. Especially with hockey there’s some fun lines to follow.

Yeah, I was thinking about getting into it (and still am), but as I was browsing odds, there were certain occasions that got me thinking "what if?" and I'm not so sure it's the best idea for me.

Kind of surprised about this one would have thought it would be Mcleod

Anyways could see the Wild claim as they are looking for cap casualties and Johnsson if healthy can put up 20 goals on the right line

Guess not as if it was the case why would he be on waivers

Either way any team needing a solid 4th liner or heck a guy who the Canes have used all over the place should submit a claim

Everyone but Johnsson could get claimed. 3.4 million for a guy who hasn't played up to that price tag is a tough sell.

Yeah you’ve really gotta be careful, and stay within your limits. However much money you put in, you have to expect to never see that again. I kept almost all of my bets last year to 50 cents, sometimes even 20 cents (the minimum bet allowable, and these were the ones like you mentioned LFFSR that are like, a crazy thing or stupid multi-leg parlay but ridiculously unlikely to happen lol). I did up my stake to $1 this year, partially for simplicity and partially because I did well last year, but mostly because I’m still able to shrug off losses very easily at that stake size. The best advice for getting into betting that I can give as an amateur is to never expect to see your deposit again and keep your stake size both constant and low (like I started with 50 cents, which was 2% of my $25 deposit last year). The other thing to remember is you don’t have to bet on everything, you should only bet on things you think will happen, and sometimes that means completely ignoring a slate of like 12 games because there are no good odds, and that’s just the way it goes. And if you find yourself getting upset or overly stressed about it, it’s best to walk away. If you keep that in mind, and keep yourself in check, it can be very fun though. And like yikes mentioned, I started paying attention to some NBA and NFL stuff that I hadn’t previously. I suck at betting on the MLB lol, I’d need to actually make some algorithms to bet on that I think, because baseball is so statistics based and basically solved from what I hear. Hockey is a good sport to bet on if you’re purely going on gut instinct and hot streaks though imo
