Canucks pass easily. You want us to give up our second best prospect and a 2023 first round pick for a guy we could have gotten for free? EASY PASS
Lets be real, no, you couldn't have, you never had the cap space to be in the hunt for him. That's why we would be retaining 50% of his salary when we flip him to you (in the description of this ACGM)
To the OP, lets break down these deals. Ducks will expect a 1st and a good (not great) prospect in return for Klingberg with 50% retention. Any salary coming back has to be an expiring contract or its a cap dump and requires more to get done. We also need to adress needs with this trade, bottom 9 right wing, right handed centers, right handed D, absolutely no left handed players unless it is a top 6 capable winger to put on the Terry Zegras line, so they should be of the power forward, net front chaos causing persuasion.
Ottowa: Ducks need more to take on Zaitsev's deal than this returns. The best prospect coming back is LD, which is absolutely the worst position to bring back with the deal. Jarventie, Pinto, Ostapchuk, Bernard-Docker, and Thomson would be targets.
Cannucks: Two LD prospects, one who is probably an AHL lifer, and an old LW to make the money work, this isn't the deal. Pearson is the logical candidate for the dump, but he has term that I don't like and we are way overstaffed at middle six left handed guys. Prospect targets would be Juulsen, Lockwood, Karlsson. I don't really see any reason the sharks want Pearsson, even with retention, so I don't think that makes sense. Our third needs to stay put in this deal. Cannucks are incredibly unlikely to do this, as they have spent years depleting their farm system and trading away 1st round picks, which their GM has stated they cannot afford to do anymore.
Predators: Undersized 1st round bust LW, LH Russian pivot who hasn't played the NA game yet, again wrong selections. Targets should be Glass, L'Heureux, Afanasyev, Evangelista, Fabbro, Carrier, Prokop, Matier.
I'm really not sure what you are doing with that Toronto deal as "part two" Since it involves none of the pieces involved, other than to tie in we are getting a NHL current winger from the Preds, but he is no Comtois replacement. I don't think Toronto is interested in the deal either, unless they free up roster space, they can't take Comtois, they already don't have enough to sign Sandin.
