(1) We can certainly use depth at RW.
(2) I don't hold much hope for Steel any longer.
(3) We need a little toughness now that we traded Nic DesLauriers away.
(4) Even a bottom-half second has some value.
(5) Kassian's cap hit compared to Steel's isn't that burdensome.

As I said in my previous comment, I think that this is a reasonable trade. Steel is a good replacement for Brassard and Turris at the bottom of your roster. Well thought out!

Yes it is but a smart GM stays out of it, way too small a sample size for dishing out term and money like that, those are the contracts that haunt you immediately. He had 15 fantastic games 56 very average games in 71 total NHL games played.

Foegele is pretty much a cap dump himself, so he isn't any incentive for the Jets to take a 2nd cap dump in Ceci and give up a good player.

We'd do the trade but I have to ask WHY? they both on 1 year deals and Connolly has more cap.

That Jets trade is interesting, think I'd give it some consideration if I was Chevy, would probably only do it if I could land a DeMelo replacement in another trade though.

Trading a 1st even if its a late 1st for one year of $2M in cap space would be terrible asset management.
