Kaprisov is the face of the franchise, our first true franchise player ever. It would take a McDavid offer to get Billy to trade the franchises first true elite player. And Billy would probably want an elite established player in return, not futures. I just don’t see it at this time. Now towards the ends of his deal if he says he won’t re-sign here, we’ll that changes things.

Call me crazy, but I think him being top 5 in league scoring in the regular season, scoring over a goal per game in the playoffs and there being absolutely reason to trade him or speculation of him being on the move while Fiala on the other hand, seems quite likely to be moved tgis offseason, might all be factors in why we haven't seen that.
I don't think any of the Fiala for 2OA mock trades are really about Minnesota getting the 2nd pick in the draft and more so about New Jersey being interested, the top of the 2022 draft not being considered extremely strong and Fiala coming off of a fantastic year
I don't disagree with any of this. I am just saying, I am surprised we haven't seen anyone
*try* a Kaprizov to NJ trade.
If: Kaprizov > 2nd overall > Fiala > other tradable assets from NJD
I know it would never happen, but thats true for most ACGMs.
As for Devils interest in Fiala, its been mostly speculation since Devils have a need for another wing, plenty of cap space, two of his Swiss buddies here and the GMs are close from their days in Pittsburgh together. But at the end of the day, I think Tom Fitzgerald's wish list will have other types of forwards on it. Devils have a lot of speed, skill guys. But few heavies to play in front of net or win puck battles in corners. Tkachuk would be ideal since he can do those things and play in top-6 (but doubt he ever becomes available). Lesser pieces that I suspect may be on his list are guys like Crouse, Barbashev, Nichushkin, Kunin, maybe a veteran like Hornqvist.
