Imo any teammate that judges a guy for accepting an offersheet is a terrible teammate and a worse friend. There is absolutely NO world where anybody should feel sympathy for the billion-dollar team over the guy risking life and limb every night and who actually has skill, making an extra million a year or whatever. I will say that I try to judge contracts based on both sides's arguments and reasoning to come to what I think will be a likely final contract, however on a personal level, all power to the player, get paid as much as you can physically squeeze out of whatever team is willing to pay you the most. And any teammate that doesn't agree with that can get lost, I wouldn't want to go into battle with a guy that wants me to be paid less than I'm worth (and the value of an offer sheet is inherently that player's market value). Especially on a team with guys like Marner and Tavares who are blatantly overpaid based on comparables (although again, on a personal level I'm all for them getting as much as they can). This is the reality of the salary cap world lol, and part of why I hate it. We should be determining how much a guy is actually worth, not how much we can grind out of him based on one mistake he made or whatever for the benefit of the billionaire owners that are (with the exception of Arizona naturally) making millions off of these teams (and gaining tax writeoffs and whatnot).
