Minnesota will get at least the offer sheet compensation which means it starts with 1st + 2nd + 3rd/or prospect

Also Montreal don't have the cap space to afford White.

Its great that you would do it, but Dallas, Minnesota and Montreal certainly wouldn't. Nor would Norris, Fiala or Niederreiter.

The only reason MTL wanted white was a White for Armia swap because the buyout was much better.

Minnesota declines easily. Minnesota will trade fiala elsewhere. This doesn't even come close.

No one is paying for Zaitsev, he’s a pure cap dump and will cost assets to move.

White trade is a maybe. Habs were apparently discussing a White trade with Ottawa at the deadline so who knows.

The other two trades are just straight up embarrassing. Zaitsev hold negative value even at 50% retained and the Wild won't be trading Fiala for our scraps.

If the Wild trade Fiala, it's only because they'd have no choice (cap)

They 100% get a first round pick for him. It's either you give the 2022 first or the 2023 first (maybe with a top-5 protection)

I doubt a team will offer sheet him and it will leave Minnesota with no leverage. I can see them getting a first but I doubt it

I think the Fiala and Norris contracts are fair. Niederriter might be a slight underpay but its a theorotical scenario. Also for Zaitsev, it can be any team Minnesota will have no choice but to trade him and the lack of leverage will cause a poor return and Montreal probably would since they had interest in him

I mean the returns are pretty pointless I feel like its more the idea that he would get traded there should've clarified that

I wouldn't pay for him however NHL GMs fall for the idea of a good player. I can see a team paying for him although I certainly wouldn't

I agree that the Zaitsev trade is awful for any team that gets him but have you seen the awful moves made as of late for overhyped defensemen? I can see a team stupidly paying for him and the thing with Minnesota is they have absolutely no choice but to move on from Fiala or completely dismantle their team to keep Fiala. I cant see them keeping him and they have no leverage so they will get screwed over with the return they field

If Minnesota wanted to, one or two move gets them there. It's a blatantly lie to say Minnesota would have to dismantle their team. This no leverage stuff by some other teams fans on here is not reality based

They would have you seen the buyouts on Suter and Parise? Not to mention they would still have other needs to fill

Most of Minnesota's roster is intact and players have been taking less money to play for wild. The parise and suter cap hold isn't a death blow

I mean the proof is that there were rumours swirling around of him being moved and it was due to them not having the cap space to bring him back. I don't think they'll have a lot to work with.

Sure it's not a death blow but it sure as hell doesn't help. I think Minnesota could possibly keep him because Guerin is a great GM so he might find a way

-Norris' contract is clearly below all recent comparables. On long term deal you're lucky if it doesn't start with an 8.
-Fiala would easily look for something starting at 8 too and demand for Fiala will be fine. At least you upped the offer.
-Zaitsev isn't going to have any market of interest without Ottawa eating salary, sending a good peice back or taking back a bad contract. Clearly Dallas wouldn't have any interest in Zaitsev regardless.
-Even the reporting out of Ottawa was that Montreal's interest in White was mostly speculative because Hughes was his agent. And you don't even need to look at the reporting of Montreal to know they have zero interest/ability to take on bad salary without sending at least as much bad salary back. We're on cap friendly after all. The idea that they'd pay a 3rd for White is laughable.

Norris' contract can be changed to say 8 million and this would still work, Fiala has been reported to be looking for 7 to 8 million unless its a false report so 7.5 million makes sense and 8 million would still be cap compliant here, Zaitsev sucks I agree but NHL GMs aren't exactly the brightest at times so I can see someone paying for Zaitsev, the Colin White trade is also just an idea. Its the idea of shipping off Colin White the return can be modified need be Montreal needs to shed cap space

I agree that Montreal would have been stupid to take White's salary without shedding some. I mean, they already have several overpaid players with term.

But looking at it again, the only player that would have made a bit of sense for Ottawa is Jeff Petry.

Chabot - Zub
Sanderson - Petry
Holden - Thomson/JBD

Brannstrom could be then traded

But that doesn't solve Petry in Canada situation

Regarding forwards, the only 3 guys Sens could use are young, Montreal won't/shouldn't trade them (Suzuki, Caufield, Evans). No other forward makes sense.

I would tell you Drouin but the guy only played 50% of the games from the last 3 years! and is pretty poor in his overall game. Not the type the Sens want to add

Really can't see anyone else outside of guys who were ELCs this season.

There's also the fact that Montreal wouldn't want to trade Petry for White without a substantial add from Ottawa. In general there wasn't any real reason for Montreal to want White in the first place outside of an opportunity for Montreal to clear cap space. There's wasn't a great argument for a fit even before they got the 1st OA pick and they simply cannot afford him in the present unless they're sending more cap back. Its also abundantly clear that Montreal isn't interested in taking on significant future years of salary.
