i dont think anyone thought sj was going to be good and ottawa is more defendable. no idea what the hawks were thinking, probably just needed a distraction.
The Sharks and Sens had both been to the conference finals the year before, so it wasn’t unreasonable to expect them to still be decent at least. The Hawks haven’t made the playoffs properly in 4 years lol (they wouldn’t have made it in 19-20 had the season continued, but technically did because the Oilers suck, and then got slapped in the 1st round).
HIschier could do good with alot of ice time, but his linemates are mid
Sharangovich likely won't produce since Lindy Luff demoted him to the bottom 6
Severson has an assist so he's looking good so far
Yeah, I was killing it with Hughes healthy.
Shar-Jack-Mercer line was fun and having Nico on the 2nd line getting the weaker matchup was awesome.

ottawa hit the self destruct button and sj was clearly on the decline. they barely got past a rebuilding avs to make it to round 3. neither team should have traded an unprotected 1st.
I’ve never drank just because I don’t see the purpose of it. Getting sick usually isn’t worth it, plus apparently the taste isn’t that good, I’m fine with drinking water, orange juice and smoothies.
A lot of my friends do it, and wayyyy too much of it too.

Chicago shouldn’t have gone for Jones. Should’ve tore it up and rebuilt

The Sharks had traded that pick at the beginning of that season to get EK65 and push for that run (so the Stutzle pick was traded nearly 2 years prior, I believe because the other 1st was Buffalo’s for E. Kane). The Sens made the ECF, 1 goal from the cup final (where let’s be real, the East was probably beating Nashville regardless), and then upgraded a top 6 centre (Turris to Duchene) to basically the same team. I feel like in both cases trading the pick appeared justified at the time, just like it was justified for the Panthers to trade their 1sts even if they suck in 2023-24. The Hawks have an older core, brought in a deteriorating asset (Seth Jones, who was not good the last couple years), and hadn’t made the playoffs properly for 4 seasons. Very different scenarios.
This is the same team that looked like world beaters against Calgary last week. They're getting shut out by the Devils (w/ several AHL regulars in the lineup for NJD).
